Huzzah :D

See... if there's a flying club, there's already public liability insurance ;) Then its a case of marshalls & St John's ambulance :D

Yeh its a guy with a girls name...hang on i'll let you know when i remember, i used to go karting there when i was racing at club level. They won't let cars on the air strip, and the kart circuit is only 1 car wide at best.

Will have a chat to him when I get home later - can't hurt to make enquiries...

If it doesn't pan out I have another 45 odd potential leads to check out afterwards :)

I live about 4-5 miles away from this, the main runway they use for light/private aircraft and its really nice tarmac, i think they do parachute jumps/landings on the disused runway.
I went up there when it snowed a few years ago in a mk1 festa had great fun doing 360's down the main runway :D

I doubt it if they will let anybody on the airfield though as the residents have been kicking up such a fuss about the go-kart track recently.

Darn NIMBY's... I'd be up for giving the Golf a thrash and being humiliated by a bunch of SX's - it will only help reinforce my determination to buy another when funds allow...

i don't live far from there and i seem to remember it being one of the run way being hired out to a load of bikers a while back, can't hurt to ask although according to the local paper the locals:ghey: are already complaing about noise and plans by nigel mansel to develope the track up there:notworthy so they many be a bit reluctant if they think there will bew a lot of noise

it is indeed but it's the only part i've seen cars or bikes on, thought it was all part of the same place? the go kart place is closer to honiton than taunton, the over side of the banger racing oval, but i think it's easier to get to from the motorway coming taunton way. we used to go up there a quite a bit when i first passed my test, there's a decent bit of taramac you used to be able to get on without any hassle at night, had lots of fun up there!

My friend knows the new owner of the smeatharpe runway, he has agreed to hire it out to us but he wasnt keen on there being more than 2-3 cars at a time :(

Wolfe

Is that 2-3 cars at a time a day.. or 2-3 cars at a time on the runway?

Secondly, I would like to remind you Steve, that Simon is the coordinator for such fun activities and as such, you shall refrain from organising or attempting to organise anything cool. If you choose to disobey this commandment/rule you shall be spanked by Gary and Channie with a wet trout (they take turns, we can't afford 2 fish  ).

Oh man, what have you done? Hope your not to bad fella? you fall down some stairs or have a car fall on you?

Leave Mammoth alone!!!

We just all want a skyline hehe :wack: ;) Now he has such a good car it's hard to help him out as most of the stuff has been done (i.e. bodging). I wish i could help him out so that I can return all the help he gave me. I love that guy.

A drag/drift place would be really cool idea.

Ouchie on the shoulder :( Not good at all - you attempting to beat chavs up or something?

Insurance wise - if its an active airstrip, then they already have public liability insurance organised. Was thinking circuit runs tbh :) Not much of a drifter myself and its not everyones cup of tea... but with a couple runways, you can cone out a nice circuit - obv not proper races or anything. Just somewhere to legally stretch the cars legs with good run offs etc.

They way I look at it, it doesn't hurt to at least try - have a few other options up my sleeves too

Sounds like a plan mate. Things are on hold from my end until I'm on holiday in a couple weeks. Just haven't the spare time to sort this out right now :( Way I figure it the weather etc doesn't permit this sort of day out until after crimbo anyway, so plenty of time to sort it.
