Hi all, had a great day sprinting at Curborough on Saturday :D
There were 4 cars in my class, Renault Clio Williams, 5 GT Turbo & MGB Roadster.
I've never been to Curborough before so my first run was the usual exploratory test of grip, ie go as fast as you can round a track you don't know!
I did a 0:43.74 first time out, followed by a 0:41.78 on my second practice run. This was a fraction behind the GT Turbo and 2 seconds clear of the MG. The Clio was 4 seconds faster and after a quick chat with the owner I figured there was something special under the bonnet...
On my first timed run I knocked 0.3 off and was only 0.2 behind the GT Turbo. I felt there was more to come, so on my second timed run I tried to take the first corner without lifting off the throttle. This resulted in a big slide at the top of second gear, I really thought I'd lost it (the embankment is only 20-30 feet from the edge of the track...) but it snapped back in line and I carried on pushing hard for the rest of the lap. Even with the slide I knocked 0.05sec off my time, so who knows what could have been, as the GT Turbo failed to improve on his time.
So I ended up third in class, not great at all but it's practice and experience!
Bring on next year!

I take it Emma was playing photographer again? Sounds like you have a talent for learning the corses pretty damn quickly. Good job. ;)

good to meet you mate:thumbs:
you did agood job on a first trip to the venue, conditions werent ideal, i reckon the track was about .5 to .75 slower than it had been in august, maybe more. You'd defo go sub 40s next time.
Catch you trackside next season:sxoc:

Yes Emma was playing photographer, she quite enjoys it and would like me to get her an SLR, so I might have a look on eBay for a cheap one :)
Nice to meet you too CNHSS1 (Chris? :o ) & CrouchieB as well  I've got a video of one of your laps, do you want me to e-mail it to you?
Parker, the Clio driver wouldn't tell me, but as he runs his own engineering & tuning company, I can only guess... :D

Cheers Lee, yes I bought some magnetic sheet before I went to the States, sorry I forgot to reply! I've sent you a "for sale" sign to put up in your crewroom for me, if you wouldn't mind

Craig, no problem, glad you liked the vid, not bad for a digital camera!
