I've just rung up my insurance co to get a quote for a 200. The phone was answered in about 2 rings. Good start I think :)

I tell him I've got a policy but would like a quote on a different car.
"oh right, I'll just put you through to the right people" WTF? I just dialled the quote line???.

Oh well, get put through to a menu system. Choose the right option ..... 10 minutes later, still in a queue.

This is pissing me off. So for a new customer you answer the phone immediately, but someone whos money you already have has to wait!! **** YOU! You've just lost my business and someone else is getting it when I change cars.

Dave

/rant over - sorry :( :D

quote team will only do new business dave.... if youve an existing policy its a team called "mid term adjustments" that youll need..... and yeah ur right it is a case of new biz being all important and MTA's are just a "yeah yeah"....... but you'll get that almost anywhere you go unfortunately :(

dont be too hasty on changing insurance co when you get ur new ride - its always beneficial to stay with existing insurer if you can... reason being that you will only get short period cancellation rates on your old policy then youve got to stump up a lump deposit for the new one with someone else!

then take into account that you're gonna lose however many months NCD as well.... all in all it needs careful consideration ;)

Thanks for the reply arry :)

I've calmed down a little now :D

Pisses me off though :(

Oh well. I'll ring them again later and try and be patient. See if they can compete with Tescos and then weigh up the saving with the things I'll lose from my current policy. Mind if I ask you a couple of quessies after I've got the quotes??

The next screen will present your new monthly and annual premium which we are sure you will be delighted with. For your convenience and added protection, these prices will include our low cost legal cover.

and the next screen says .....

Monthly Premium: £212.78
Annual Premium: £2,325.52

Oh yeah, I'm well ****ing chuffed with that, thanks

dave

calm down calm down! lol

dont worry about ur current insurers not continuing cover on the new car... in that circumstance they have to give you a pro rata premium return. As i say, the only downside is that you will lose however many months NCD, but if you're already on say 2 years and going on 3 - its not a massive percentage - especially if the quotes you're getting elsewhere are comparatively cheaper :)

and no, dont mind at all with the q's mate.... just give me a shout :)

arry is right there (i know he always is) but thats what happened to me i had to go elsewhere to get insurance, they gave me pro rata refund cos its their fault they wont insure me... but they dont half drag their feet in giving u the refund 10 weeks and still waiting. funny that though cos if it was the other way round and they were waiting for me to pay them my insurance would have been revoked by now. cheapest insurance i found was through sainsburys (although they are only a broker)

Yep, sainsburys is basicly a supermarket front of E-Sure. E-sure only insure peeps with 4 years NCB i think, but sainsburys offer insurance to everyone, just rip off younger people imo.

Isn't e-sure part of Halifax/Bank of Scotland?

Would make sence, as Sainsburys bank uses the Royal Bank Of Scotland

basically they devide up the cost of your policy by 365 then deduct the amount of days you have had the policy for and refund the remainder MINUS A HANDLING AND ADMIN FEE

Dave_S
12-11-2002, 18:35
Aah but what if you're paying monthly, I assume you just lose the rest of that months cash and then pay them an admin fee?

who are you paying monthly to?

if its direct to the insurance co then it "should" just cancel off and no-one will owe anyone nuthin lol....

if its to a finance co then the return of premium will be sent from the insurers (once processed) to the financiers and then that "should" settle ur debt

ok, looks like I can forget an S14 to start with insurance wise. I'll go for the S13 then I reckon. Just got 2 quotes from Tesco. Fully comp on 93 S13 valued at £2.5k £900 , TPFT £677. Now that I CAN cope with :D .

Do people generally agree that it's more fun to drive?? Im after more acceleration than top speed. Does it feel faster than the S14?? I've only been in a couple of S13s, one of them just a bit quick ;)

better quotes than im getting dave :( just been quoted £1459 TPFT for mine and that seems about as cheap as its getting :(

think the s13 is a more "fun" car, we could debate this one all night (and prolly will by the time some of the s14 boys read this post :p ) theyve both got their good and bad points.

id say ur spot on getting an s13 - but then i am biased :) but what the hey, if you really dont like it you can get an s14 at a later date now cant ya :)

if you dont mind me asking, who you getting quotes like that with?

Thats with Tesco.

I've got to have a CAT1 alarm etc though.

I chose Toad AI606. This would be the one I'd buy.

tesco = £2054 for me!!! and i had to endure some dopey woman asking me q's that she didnt fully understand and then adding "how much extra power do your alloy wheels give you?!" WTF??!

try Herts Insurance Consultants, they smashed tescos by £600 for me and the geezer i spoke to was a top man - phil his name was on 08451 290 290.

as for me, i think im resigned to paying lots of money this year :( still, ive had it good for a few years now so its about time i did things properly

Dave_S

yeah id recommend it - theyve got a scheme running with Highway where you can mod the car all you like as long as it doesnt increase BHP further than already declared - no additional premium to pay :)

dont know what theyre like for replacement of mods etc but then i only want TPO/TPFT so i dont care...

Dave_S
12-11-2002, 23:17
Cant hurt to try can it :)

Yeah I know what you mean. I go on the worth of the car not the mods, you don't get bugger all for them when you sell them, so .......

Dave
