Phat bob, is the man:nod:

Not only cos he is the scrutineer for D1, so he decides whether ur cage is good enough for drifty fun.
Top bloke as well

Someone mention me?:D

I'm not on here to sell cages, and while there were cars in D1GB this year that had mine in them, most did not. The car that Kev had a hand in the preparation of for example.

Theres lots of people out there doing cages it seems, I think its because Safety Devices played themselves out of the market:indiff:

Bob, am I right in thinking that the D1 cages have to be some strange incommon diameter?!

Oh and happy birthday, t'other day

The D1GB materials are pretty much FIA/MSA specification, Japanese regs are unknown to me, but as I understand them they allowed things like stainless steel , which is not a good idea.
Imagine the brittle material that they make knives from being around you when you crash:eek:

Yeah well the birthday had to come around eventually...

lol!

I knew about the material, well not the SS, how :ghey: is that!! I just heard that D1GB cages had to be a funny, larger than standard diameter or something? closer to drag cars than rally iirc

The main hoop is 42mm for 2.5mm wall or 50mm for 2.0mm wall.
Personally I went for the 50mm hoop material on mine, it gives me something bigger to hold onto when I push the enginless car around.:D

As Bob says, the regs are pretty much straight MSA regs:)

Looks good, what car is that BTW?

Its horses for courses though, if you want a fully welded in cage that triangulates and massively improves the chassis then Rathbone, Hauser et al are your people.

If all you want is a bolt-in job that will save your neck when you roll the car and get t-boned then its a different game.

FIA approval can be little more than a costly form filling exercise, you submit the drawings to the governing body with a cheque, an engineer checks the drawings and provides a certificate. I know with things like International FIA approval its a slightly different issue with inspections of welds and materials.
