The ST170 sux. Lad across from me bought one the week before I bought my s14a. 16k to buy ! mine cost just 10k.

In the first week the wheels where taken from it and it was left needing new disks as it dug itself into the tarmac. You wouldn't know it was anything other than a focsux except for a tiny badge that says ST170. Which if he had removed would have meant his car prolly would have been left alone.

Funny thing was when his mates come round they where all standing around mine and hardly interested in his motor lol. Gutting.

Figures - 0-60 = 7.9
Top end - 134mph

s14 - 0-60 = 6.5
Top end - 146 mph

Can't comment on the cossie but its producing 212bhp I think so it should be on a par with the 200.

The Focus RS has a 0-60 of about 6.7 and a 145 top speed so its on par with the S14. its got a push button start as well which i would love to put in my S14.

Don't be him and his ace mates spent 5 years ganging up and bullying me and my mates when we where in school.

They are the local scallys and I was well chuffed to see them getting a taste of it.

I think a push button to start a car is really tacky :(

I test drove a Renault Vel Satis a while back and felt like a complete knob each ime I had to press the hateful start button. What's wrong with a key for goodness sake

5th gear and top gear both said RS Focus has really bad torque steer.
You could see it on the prog when they were doing the test drive. Bet loads will be crashed in the early days of release.

Wasnt it top gear where they said that you cannot test drive the car before you buy it... it was either that or 5th gear... Now that really inspires confidence...

I'm sorry, I hate Fords. All of them.

Any why spend 16k on an RS Focus anyway???

To be honest, I@m glad to got into the serious sportscar performance at the level I did. I'm quicker, fast and bigger than the out of focus and, if the car is destroyed by a pillock in a 4x4, it only cost me £1,000....
That Focus isn't a serious performer IMHO

Don't underestimate the RS Focus, clarkson did say it had really bad torque steer, but then it also had huge amouts of grip! It beat the UK scooby (WRX I think - the bug eyed one) by 5 seconds round the track with the stig driving both!!! Thats not to be sniffed at. I reckon most 200's would beat it in a straight line, but once you get to some twisty stuff it could surprise you!

Having said that, its still a Focus... doesn't look like a real sports car :)

Yep Clarkson was wel impressed by the handling, had something to do with having a funky front diff. But he wouldn't drive it home from where they were testing it.
I don't think it was torque steer as such that was a problem; the car just kept bugerin of in random directions when you were driving along normally. No wonder they won't let you test drive one.

To be fair to the Focus, did you see the road clarkson took it on to get it to handle badly. He didn't notice it on the track or on normal roads. My 200 would'nt even have made it up that road for grounding out

Its still a good point though, why fwd anyway? 4wd like the escort would have been best.

I sat in a (stationary) RS Focus at the Motorshow last week and is was pretty tidy inside. The seats were fantastic and the (green) starter button was quite a novelty. (Shame about the Blue leather bits ....... V.Tacky!)

As for 4WD, Ford nearly didn't make it at all. The cost of putting it on a 4WD platform would have been horrendous. That's why they're probably NOT going to make the Focus Cossie.

The problem with the Focus is the Quaiffe diff....

Its ****ing magic around a track, but as he demonstrated, when the diff puts the power from one wheel to another it creates the snatching effects which clarkson found unacceptable and I have to agree....

Put a quaiffe in a Rear wheel drive car and you have absolute total heaven :)
