Hi All,

The MX5 Owners club is organising a full day at Donnington on October the 28th (a saturday):

http://www.mx5ocforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=39549

As they are running a bit low on numbers, they are scouting round for other clubs to invite along - and the SXOC is welcome as long as we promise to play nicely ;)

It will be £125, 20 min sessions and you should get 7 in a day, on the National Circuit, for the full day. Sessions will be broken up by ability...

Seems pretty damned good value to me!

Hi all.

It's me that's organising the MX5 Day at Donny on Saturday the 28th October - (Richard Smith - Red + White striped BBR - A16 BBR!!!)

Anyway - So far I've got about 45 MX5's definately wanting to do this day.

To confirm things; you get 20 minutes every hour and there should be 7 sessions during the day ie 20mins x 7 = 140 minutes on track. The National circuit will be used as the Melbourne loop is a further £750!

The cost is going to be £125 per car provided we can get 90 cars.

It was initially conceived to have all MX5's as we did at the Donny evening in 2004 but due to the short notice, I want at least 60 MX5's (members or non members) and then the other 30 places will be available to A N Other types of cars. I've been in touch with the MG OC, MR2 OC and Lotus OC and they don't seem bothered!!!!

In the £125 we get full marshalling, Donningtons Pulblic Liability insurance and the use of the garages (firt come - first served I'm afraid).

Now I'm waiting on a decision from the exec comittee from the OC as to wether they will fund this day. If they do, we've not got a problem - if they don't (they have concerns about filling the places) we either don't do it or put the money up front ourselves - that's a lot of cash!!!!!

What I need from everyone who is DEFINATELY wanting to do this is an email with your name, car type and registration, wether the car is turbo'd or supercharged or normally aspirated, group preference - novice intermediate or expert (Nutter) and preferably, area of the country (so we can keep the area co-ords in touch) sent to me - richardgsmith@tiscali.co.uk ASAP - preferably with the subject of Donny Booking so my spam blocker thing lets it through.

I hope that we can fill the whole 90 places with 5's but I appreciate that we don't have too much time to get everyone together.

For those of you that joined us in 2004, you must know that doing a track day with cars which are equally matched IS brill.

Please help us get this day off the ground by saying YES I'M IN!!!!!

Cheers,

Rich

:)

Cheers,

Jon

This seems damn good value and could be my last for the year.

Do you know when you guys need to know by? Had any other responses from SXOC?

Cheers

No other responses from the SXOC as yet, but I think most of the hardcore trackday people have been at Trax / Nurburgring etc...

I think they need responses ASAP - preferably before tomorrow - if there's not enough people, it's unlikey it will happen :(

Dunno about a noise limit - if you are interested, mail the address above - I think they are 4 off the required number to book the track now, so it's worth getting in quick :)

SM

Noise will be a STRICT 98dB drive by I'm guessing.

It's one of the Donnington Trakzone (?) organised ones - it's £99 as standard, but apparently it's open season for chavs in hot hatches and bad driving :(

The mx5oc have 'booked out' one of the sessions for solely mx5s though.

I have been several times to trakzone events and you are totally wrong. There are the odd one or two saxos but other than that its generally skylines, bmws, evos, scoobies, westies, elise etc... Generally bad driving comes from the westie/elise "I own the track" posse...

SM

I agree, done trackzone events and happy with the driving standards so far

Fair enough :)

I'm only going on some of the comments on the mx5oc...

SM

I'm assuming the mx session will have less cars on track than the public session, which can only be a good thing
