Hi

wanna fit some 6x9s and dont wanna buy an acoustic shelf. Will the standard s13a parcel shelf hold the weight of your typical pair of 6x9s? (dont care about vibration as it wont be that loud.)

I have 6x9's in my s13 shelf and they are fine, but I strengthened it with aluminium shelf thingies - you know the ones you screw to the wall and then hook the sticky-out shelf holder in

in my shelf I had 2 x 10" KEF 300W drivers.......

But the metal runners kept the shelf nice and straight, no bowing what so ever..:D

The shelf is quite strong, because its got those 2 bars running donw it. i got a set of 7x10's mounted in between these bars and ths shelf dosent sag atall. Nice.

I didn't realise the steel bars came as standard, I assumed they were fitted along with the 6x9s when they were fitted to my car (previous owner). If they were standard then this is what I had without any strenghtening so you might be OK.

Dunc.

Yea im sure those bars are standard, good idea cos the shelf is quite wide and stops it from sagging.
If only it was that simple with women....
