Hi all,

Some of you may remember my post a month or so ago, where I explained that I was taking part in the Top Gear Magazine 'search for a star'. Basically, it's a competition open to anyone who has never had a racing license (or, like me until the first round, never driven a car round a circuit).

Anyway, the first round involved a practical exam (in a Seat Cupra Clubsport R), and a written exam.

I recieved a letter yesterday informing me that I have made it through to the Semi-finals!! :) The semi will be a half-day appraisal in three vehicles:
1) Lotus Elise
2) Single Seater
3) Skid Car

I can't wait! The Semi-finals are on the 19th and 22nd of Novemeber respectively, and then the grand final is on the 28th (I think) of the same month. Obviously Top Gear magazine will be there, and Johnny Herbert himself will help select the driver who will win the competition, and a years racing in Junior Formula Ford, with the possibility of becoming a full-time racing driver! :)

Wish me luck... :)

Cheers mate.

When I went for the first round at Rockingham, I was driving a Seat Leon Cupra R, and I happened to be out on the 2 mile or so infield track when two guys who work for Lotus were out in Elise's... needless to say they were both overtaken and left for dead! :)

2***** drivers will rule the world! Muhahahaha...ha...a.... erm.. :o

;) :D

Dan,

Well done on what you've achieved so far...hope you go all the way...

As for the Lotus....well you beat it but personally I doubt there was anyone "special" behind the wheel, or the driver was sticking to a plan and not pushing hard. But I live near Hethel so I'm biased! :D

I saw this but was very sceptical and thought it was just some scam for them to able to fund an already selected driver who will win the comp even though he may not be the best driver there...if you win I will stand corrected, unless Herbert is your uncle of course :)
