Anyone know with insurance companies let you drive other cars (not your own) if you take a FC policy with them.

The one I have with Adrian Flux does, but Ive heard of some that wont do it till you are over 25 :(

Anyone??

Cheers

I've found that generally, any FC policy allows driving another car that doesn't belong to you under Third party insurance only.

Its normally the exception that doesn't allow that...in fact, you may be able to save a few quid by actually stating you don't want that bit of cover.

In the past, this was always the case and I've been with Budget, Sterling, Direct Line, Tesco and now Greenlight.

My insurance allowed driving other cars up to 1997 then they cancelled it, until I was about 27 then they switched it back on again ?!?

its not set in stone nowadays. it used to be over 25's only but now its given to pretty much anyone... mate of mine is 19 and has it, on a third party fire and theft policy too!

not usually a saving to be made in taking it off in all honesty, the policy either includes it or it doesnt, its not something that they usually have a separate rate for.

I just got a quote from HIC, for an AE86, for TPFT, and the cost to enable me to drive other cars TP, was an extra £26..

I quoted for me at 21 with 1years NCB..

When I was 18 I had it on a TPFT policy, it wasn't even an extra charge! I doubt the company still does that

Tescos insurance point blank refuse me that extra cover, because im under 25 (this was 2 weeks ago)

Edit: this was with both insurance a ford fiesta and the 2*****, so it was definatly not a car thing.
