Congrats to CrouchieB for the 4th place, and CNHSS1 for his class win  (not the same class as us - and a good 10% faster than us  )
Yak, overdriving, now theres something you dont expect :p
Good vids :D My smokey turbo isnt too bad - more expense :( might last the year out
now that track looked like fun :D Bit bloody narrow though!!!
Yeah, hence why i kept putting wheels off it :wack:
Yeah, hence why i kept putting wheels off it :wack:
You'd put wheels off it it was 30M wide :p
You beat me in the championship anyway, despite me beating you more times than you beat me, we were 16th and 17th IIRC.
I didnt put a wheel off at aintree... just :p
Loosk good :)
Are you guys definitely going sprinting again next year? ;)
Yes, hope so, considering a few options, will depend on funds. I'd like a go at the Time Attack but would need a slightly higher-spec car and the same busget for 5 events as 3X as many local sprints.
I'm definatly doing something competative  love it :smitten:

Morning Boys, Glad you both enjoyed it and you have got to do some again next year – I need to have something to try and keep up with!
Told you Craig’s car (CNHSS1) was a bit more sorted than mine! The day before when the track was dry he did a 59:42, his first time under 60 secs, very rapid!
Hope the tuby last ok and well done Yak for not coming off first run up the hill.
See you both again soon,

TIme attack?
Do you fancy a more formal circuit race series, albeit a budget one? I'm trying to decide between the two; not having a garage, or somewhere to store a race-car at the moment, the idea of an everyday car that I can sprint is winning :)
Time attack or a decent go at the norhern sprint series willl require a budget of £2K + car by my reckoning.

Time attack looks quite hardcore - a lot of the cars are vastly tuned :wack:
Yeah, and im struggling to make sence of the safey regs for it.
Look at "club" not "pro" Saftey regs is fine, I've chatted with Phat bob - he does the scrutenering theres nothing to worry about.
Its what Jez has been winning the RWD class of, but theres CTR's, and some slower cars. Based on how many secs/lap I think I'd be slower than Jez wouldnt be last, but would never be "up there".
Squizz is having a go in Mrs Squizz's NA very lightly modded MR2, see how he does at Silverstone which is one of the faster tracks.
Cool vids mate, that course looked quite daunting!! How many blind hairpins...
LOTS! and turned up late to didnt get to walk the cource. Wasnt untill my 3rd and last run that i could remember roughtly where the cource went :wack:
Look at "club" not "pro"I must be being really stupid, but I can't see anything detailing the difference between the two. £146.88 is almost a whole trackday too... but I agree, it's competition :)
Actually I had a look too, and couldnt see the detail either, but there is less saftey stuff for the club challenge.

Doh!! I hope SM phoned and asked where you were :wack:
Whens the next one guys?
Nope.... his phone is broken :(
Next and last one for the year will probably be at 3 sisters on the 1st or october... if me and SM aint bankrupt but the end of our euro trip :wack:
That course looked scary! Hairpins after yumps, and a really narrow track! :wack:
Could you really learn the course with just a couple of practice runs?
Could you really learn the course with just a couple of practice runs?
Yak had one practise, I walked it twice and had it sorted enough to get down to detail of each corner rather than just the corner itself by the 1st timed run after the 2 practises.
My phones broke, still waiting for it to come back from the repair place.

Its quite expensive, but you get a lot more track time than on a sprint :)
Yeah, 4 runs up a hill @ 65 secs isnt a lot for £100 :(
Surely an endurance racing series is the best way of getting loads of tracktime?

Where as I didnt get to walk it. Was asleep for my first 2 runs and only woke up for the third. Still only trailed SM by 4 tenths :wack:
yeah, but thats like ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
edit @ Frisbee ;)

Errr 3 runs :wack:
On the plus side it means you dont spend > £200 more on fuel, brakes, tyres and stuff.
yeah, but thats like ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

I only half looked into doing them with a motorbike years ago and I think it was the order of £5k for a season including the cost of a bike but then split among a few people.
Bit different in a car, more than my house cost me each year :(
Jez: how long do you get on track? :)
I only half looked into doing them with a motorbike years ago and I think it was the order of £5k for a season including the cost of a bike but then split among a few people. The ones I've looked into are more like £5k+ per race, plus race car, fuel, and parts :wack:
There are a few fairly cheap racing series available, depending on whether you want to drive MX-5s, MR2s, BMW E30 320s, Caterhams, etc, but it's usually a minimum of ~£4.5-6k per season, plus buying the race car, trailer, and tow-car.
Yeah, way out of my leauge, mind find £2K for one of the 2 options I posted.
Also I was chatting to the guy who organises the Longton championship and he was saying he gave up circuit racing because of the cost. Not only was there the cost of the car and entry but he got fed up of corners of the car getting knocked of by rich kids who dads would just repair the car to get them back on the track. If you were paying for you own car it got rather expensive.
At lest on a sprint if you do bend the car it will be your own fault and not some one else bumping you off.
Depends on the car... if it's a knackered stripped-out old E30 320i, you just hammer out the dents :D
Yeah, if it was only pannle damage. Im talking nocking suspension bits off.
its dont take that much of a wack to start bending suspension bits. May be not take them off but you will still need to replace broken bits.
a couple of incar loton vids from 29/30th july, little bit wet on one of em :D
oh and by the way they are big files and no sound
