View Full Version : New Skyline
Sitting at work, not working (hence being on here) and in between being on here I'm reading an industry magazine called Auto Technology. There's an article on the Skyline which starts like this:
"The new Nissan Skyline 350GT-8 is to be equipped with Nissan's Extroid CVT (continuously variable transmission) with an eight speed manual mode in Japan.
The Nissan Skyline used to be a purely domestic vehicle for the Japanese market. But from this spring, it is also on the market in the U.S. as the Infinity G35. The car has a 3.5l V6 engine and a 5 speed automatic transmission. In Japan, the Skyline is equipped with Extroid CVT instead of automatic transmission........"
Stop me if you guys already know about this :)
What no turbo
From what I gather there is going to be different versions of the skyline. One where it's and everyday 'affordable' car and then the one badged just as GT-R (which is the performance skyline we know and love)

the back ends nice, but the front needs a paper bag on it:D :D :D
Yeh, I agree - it's sorta brick against the wind. They are concept pics though so we can expect the real thing to be toned down. Remember the MM.e concept of the new Micra?

Yeah, I've seen pics of the R35 that they are actually making, andd it looks like the R34 with a few styling adjustments.
Basically, the sort of refinements made to the S14a to make it the S15 have been applied to the R34-35, if that makes sense.
In short, looks good, not like that concept bunch of @rse above, but I still prefer the agressive looks of the s14a and the R34. :)

Will

i was reading about that somewhere, they can only build 50 per month because it is an all leather interior which is HAND STITCHED, makes a change from their normal cloth or velour stuff
Mmmm when I first saw that I didn't like it....
But if any of you have GT concept on the PS2 the they have a booted one on there and it looks stunning:D
Ditto for the new 350z didn't think much of that either when I first saw it but like some of those dodgy songs, takes a little while to grow on you and then you end up loving it:D:D:D:D

That GTR concept looks like it could actually eat most other cars.
I like it,
It's like GrahamB says, at first it's a bit too much but it's really grown on me and (In my dreams) I could picture myself driving it!!
Alg;)

Mmm, I would agree - in terms of looks I do prefer the R34, but if its a choice between the bland one and the concept car, I choose bland every time!
Cheers,
Will
I saw that photo a couple of years ago when their were rumours that their was gonna be a R35, I think someone did it in Photoshop cos it looks a little dodgy.

Ow gawd, I think it might be true :(
This is gonna suck - by the time I have the cash to buy a brand new skyline, it's gonna look like the sort of concept cr@p that Renault and Vauxhall were showing at Motorshows as the new Cavalier and Safrane in the 80s :( Hand me the Audi catalogue somebody (just kidding ;) )
Looks a bit like the pics of the new S16 200sx.
