Is there an actual date for this meet?
I am a recent owner of an s13 (and used to be an owner of a bottom end but that's another story) and although I can't promise the car will be there I may come along to have a gander.

Lol no worries didn't take it personally. Are the Swindon meets normally a decent turn out?

Are there any other meets closer to me in Zumerzet worth looking up?

Moonhead
19-07-2006, 12:52
longwell green meet is probably biggest, swindon meets are more of an intimate affair, but good beer and cider oh-arrr

Right guys any of you lot that are going to this meet any good with ca18det knowledge?

I have my new one fitted and the car is up and running (should be painted as well by then) but there are a few things I would like educated opinions on?

Moonhead
29-07-2006, 00:38
I've played with a few and russ (sx drifting) has rebult a few. what the prob?

squashedmonkey
29-07-2006, 00:50
Well I have just put a replacement ca18 in and got it up and running. When I originally bought it the seller mentioned something about overfuelling and I think there is something like that going on.

I am concerned things aren't right and as this is my first turbo car and I have already had one engine pop on me I think I need to be sure.

As the boost spools up it hesitates slightly and then goes mental with an accompanying rattly racous noise? My mechanic thinks it may be overfuelling as well but he admits to not knowing much about these.
I am concerned that it may be detting (not that I know exactly what that means but I know it's not good) and I wasn't told what chip is fitted so it may not be running right.

It could be there is something knackered on the replacement ca18 but I am sure you guys could probably tell me straight away as you have all seen a few.

Moonhead
29-07-2006, 09:50
I've had a problem where it drives fine if taken very steady but foot down when it should boost it would hesitiate then make funny noises like you mention- infact i took half the swindon lot out to hear lots of ideas but none the cause- it was the timing- every time i increased the boost i'd have to fiddle with the CAS just a bit and it works fine. My timing lights out on loan:annoyed: but i have set it by ear twice :D and been 1 degree out:cool:
If anyones got a timing light, i'll bring the tipex and we could do it in the carpark

squashedmonkey
29-07-2006, 21:30
Wicked moonhead that sounds like it makes a lot of sense. As it has a t28 and a chip but now on a different engine (which we tippexed and reset as it was originally) that could well be it.

I could probable get my hands on a timing light to bring with me (wouldn't know how it works but I am sure my old man has one).

I will cruise on up then chap (carefuly lol) and have a look.

As a gesture of goodwill I have a s14 (afaik) full leather interior in fair condition that is free to the first person that can help me fit my 2 buckets.

squashedmonkey
29-07-2006, 21:32
What time you all meeting up? And got a map link?

Moonhead
30-07-2006, 00:18
7pm is the normal time- map in the sticky thread;) if you can get the timing light that would be best.
p.s. mines with a t28 with a stage 2 chip too- i bet thats the prob:nod:
bucket fitting may require butchery of s13 seats for subframe- i've got a set:sxoc:

Coolio Moonhead. I will chuck one in the back and we can have a look as well.

Only really the low down hesitation has dropped off. Definately notice it is different but wasn't the main issue.

TomB
05-08-2006, 15:58
Wont be any big BX pimpin at the next meet!

Got an issue of blue smoke to sort before then, i think its a bit more than the turbo though.

Lee, can I pursuade you to part with that CA?
