whats the performance like???? its mighty impressive, well the original is a legend!! 40 inches from the floor to the roof, thats scary low! i have to listen to my boss telling me of the time he drove one back in the 70's and how its the most monsterous car of all time, and i must agree the new one looks as monsterous as the original and then some!!!

I like the way ferrari pissed mr ford off so he built the gt40 and wiped the floor with them for a few years running at le'mans :D way to go
This is the NEW GT40 - not many going to be made... And a tag of (I think) some $150000...
The powerplant is an all-American V-8 from Ford's modular engine family. The MOD 5.4-liter V-8 in the GT40 concept features aluminum four-valve heads, forged crankshaft, H-beam forged rods and aluminum pistons fed by a supercharger, all combining to make more than 500 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque. These figures match or exceed those of the most powerful period GT40, a car that could handily top 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. Because of the supercharger and high-revving, free-breathing valvetrain, the new car produces this astounding power from an efficient 5.4-liter V-8 engine. The power is put to the road through an RBT six-speed manual transmission.
This ferocious powerplant rests in a cradle that's firmly secured by a purpose-built, aluminum spaceframe. A custom independent suspension system uses unequal-length control arms and a push-rod/bell-crank system to interface with horizontally mounted dampers, enabling the characteristic low profile. Cross-drilled discs (11.5 inch front, 15 inch rear) are clamped by Alcon six-piston calipers. To accommodate the large brakes and provide the right stance, 18x8-inch tires were used in front, with 19x10-inch rubber filling up the rear.

GT40, eh... nice :D
It's in Clarkson's Outrageous video I believe (whichever the supercar one is)...
Apparently the kitcar version is pretty good too... and you can stick whatever engine you want in there... well, as long as it's big and a V8 :)
200+ mph this car is what dreams are made of, $150000 is cheap and i bet they will be a good investment.
Am i reading the spec list right, 11.5 inch front disc's and 15 inch rear disc's  Bit radical isn't it?

A mate of mines building a GT40 replica (not a kit car, he's built everything from the chassis up!) with a big block Ford engine in it. Recently engine dynoed at well over 600bhp and 600lb/ft. Can't wait until he gets it finished :)

Mr Ferrari had a habbit of doing that, that's why Lambourghini started making cars.

Sounds impressive but it's only about 80bhp/litre - no fancy bits just plenty of displacement!
Ah, 7 litres+. That explains it. Loads of room for tuning with superchargers etc then:rolleyes:
look at these then
www.gt40.org.uk
www.gt40club.clara.net some for sale if you have a bit of spare cash around:eek:

It is already supercharged.
Why use a supercharger and not a turbo? S/Cs take your horses away...
I was jesting about the GT40 replica Supraman was talking about, no need to touch the new GT40 it seems fine just the way it is!
:)
