View Full Version : So, who's broken their car just before JAE ?
Bring forth the sob stories.
This thread is for those who will, after today (July 3rd) , encounter unfortunate circumstances  , not for those who intended to rebuild the car, and left it until July to start the job
Kev's been remarkably disaster free this year, so I think it's up to someone else to start things going.

George and Muttley have already broken theirs.
They broke too early. I expect them to be fixed in time.

I bust a vacuum pipe (that is a complete C**T to get to) fitting my Defi's so I have got a little boost leak at the moment - wont stop me driving it to JAE though  :D

Kin ell so do I, as it's the only mode of transport I got to (tow the caravan)
My turbo gasket's blowing it's t!ts off... :annoyed:
That's a four hour fix - that doesn't count
Whoa, whoahhhh, whooooooooooa.
Unfortunate circumstances start AFTER today. First post edited accordingly :D

I didn't break mine, it broke all by it's self...
My turbo gasket's blowing it's t!ts off... :annoyed:
Mine is too  luckily i got it booked in at APT on 14th July before JAE

Been 3 days so far... although most of that time I've been in the pub... ;)
I have lots of parts to mod the cars before JAE so you can show off your new bits. what a :Plug:
:D
I'm picking the S13 up from APT on sat, and straight to Donnington sunday for a trackday - I very much doubt I will suceed in breaking it.

come on we all know thats not true:D
Mines broke! :wack:
May be better next week though
an Irishman called Len, with an artic broke mine.
I did my best to brake mine by backing it into a gravel trap at donnington at 100mhp but it still drove home :D
More worryingly Ive got to get it MOTed before JAE and it now needs new rear discs, front right ABS sensor, front washer pump, a number plate bulb and thats the stuff I know it will fail on :wack:

Mines been in varing numbers of bits since december.
and the engine isn't in one bit yet still on an engine stand. so its goin to be interesting getting it sorted in time. still needs a full allignment after the engines back in and will try and get some miles on it before driving up to JAE.
fingers crossed
Mine has a big fecking dent in the door. It still drives though
What might cause the problem is that I swapped the insurance over onto the Integrale yesterday :wack:
I wont be there in my 200 :(
Rebuild is happening... just waiting for parts to be ordered.. and then its good to go!!!
BUT I will be coming up in either Deek's S13 or in another car!
See link to rebuild and reshell below for more info :)

Mine broke today!:annoyed: Its really bad too might need a new cams :censored:
My S13 sounds as dodgy as fcuk (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=225370)
I decided to put off the engine swap till after JAE, so I've only driven it a few miles since and hope it gets there :D
Then tonight I found why it's had a slow puncture for a few months - a bloody big rusty screw stuck in it - hopefully that will be fixed tomorrow
I might even make it... in something Nissan ;)

Mine is broken :(
Waiting on a good gearbox to surface and APEX to get some ACT clutches in stock again :whip:
It'll probably get me there, but it's making a horrid whirring noise n 1st and second now

Just found my front wing has been pushed out and kinked a bit :( Probably self-inflicted at the Haynes track day though

as mentioned mine's not holding air pressure in one of the tires, if it's just a valve i'll be there, if it's leaking from the split rim mating faces i won't as a can't be arsed with the hassle of sorting it this week:)
the sx is out of action too  but for a good reason :D

I have a daughter who starts school this year. She doesn't remember my S13 ever being anything other than a rusty driveway ornament. The question is be "will it be fixed in time for JAE?" :wack:
Then tonight I found why it's had a slow puncture for a few months - a bloody big rusty screw stuck in it - hopefully that will be fixed tomorrow
 TWO screws and the sidewall totally shagged by being run under-inflated :annoyed:
i've tried Mytyres.com, etc and none of the mail order companies will guarantee next day delivery, so it looks like I'm going to get screwed by the costs of the local tyre fitters - got quoted £90 a tyre for some junk brand of tyre and I'll need two - just what I need before JAE :(
George and Muttley have already broken theirs.
Engine put in today :D aprt from the speedo not working and a small boost leak all fixed and ROARING to go
thanks Jon, bloody disaster free:wack:
well i really temted fate with a drift day 200 miles away last weekend and the young pup held up just fine.
however towing the barby with a mechanical diff is rather scarey i have to say.
Actually the diff is making some strange noises after the drift day so im a little concerned tbh.
Mines still broken, well not broken by not MOTable. Had it up on stands this morning before work, took the wheel, calliper, disk off. Cut away the dust shield so I could get at the ABS sensor. Cleaned it all up, checked the toothed wheel. Bodged the front washer while I was there. Put it all back to gether... and the ABS still doesnt work :(
Still impressed I managed to do all that before work!

:(
Mine is still in bits.
Currently needs the following to sort:
Fit prop
Fill gearbox with oil and fit gear lever
Change cam cover
Fit oil filter and add oil
Re fit loom properly and fit new coil pack loom
Add water to cooling system
Fit charge cooler and charge pipes
Final fit CC coolant pipes
Test CC fan and pump then bleed system if OK
Fit R33 intake pipe and mount AFM/filter
Fit SAFC in car and adjust for R33 AFM
Fit number plate to bumper
Re fit bumper and lights
Spray grill and fit
Fire it up and see if it works :wack:
Bleed rad
If I get time:
Run the car with a wideband to make sure the R33 AFM doesnt make it run lean
Fit AVCR and up the boost a bit.
All this recomences after 4pm tomorrow and I also need a hair cut and to get stuff to Steves for Friday :wack:
Gonna be a late one tomorrow me thinks :wack:

had a close call tonight. checking it over before the RR evening tomorrow and found the front pulley bolt had loosened itself. got away with it but now I'm paranoid it's not gonna stay tight, I know it was torqued only a month ago

Well, the items in Red have been done.
Firted it up and let it idle so I could bleed the rad. Slight problem with one of the coolant hoses at the rear of the bay, but soon sorted :wack:
It idles REALLY nicely. better than it ever has.
The parts I have changed on the engine are:
Inlet Manifold to head gasket
Inlet plenum to manifold gasket
S14 plenum and manifold and do away with EGR totally and a lot of unused vacuum pipes.
Fit low mileage coil pack loom and newer (s14a) Inj loom and ECU water temp sender (they are different)
Lower mileage Lambda sensor
Other parts:
Solid gearbox mount
Cusco Engine Mounts
R33 GTSt AFM and pipiing
Custom Charge cooler install
Re fit std gear shifter
Like I say the idle is really nice. No more missing :wack:
If it drives as well as it idles Ill be over the moon! :D
Hopefully tomorrow Ill get to take it for a quick spin up the road before setting off for JAE :wack:
Oh yeah and I now have a blow at the BACK of the CAT. It had one on the front a week ago :wack:
Massive thanks to Ben for helping me for a couple of nights. It was tight timing WITH your help mate

Cars not broken.... well just not ready, I've not been able to get to the car to work on it.
The reason - up until may 29th everything was going fine, then we had a small fire at the work, well not so small really, more like huge.
It has destroyed everything that myself and my family have worked for, for over 30 years.
So, with the insurance co. paying out its taken a few of my spare hours,( all of then really) to put the place back together.
Sorry but this is the best excuse I can come up with, so you guys will have to wait until next year to feel the V8 in the flesh.
Sorry all.

Got it workinf again :D it was the chuffing start solinoid. Took the motor off, took it apart and back together and it working for the mo untill iget a better one.
However it has just spectacularly failed its MOT. Almost needed another sheet of paper :wack:

errr it failed on 10 points for its MOT and an advisory :wack:
This should be interesting reading  .... considering your's is one of the most reliable S13's i've ever seen, not to mention all the new parts you've fitted recently
Go on then, spill it. What was the advisory :wack:
1. Nearside front shock locking ring insecure : D'oh
2. Offside front brake pipe exessivly corroded : Oops missed that
3. Front (to rear) brake pipe execssivly corroded : Missed that too
4. Offside rear seat belt misssing : Im sure I dont actualy need 2 but have to have a chat about that
5. Near side rear seatbelt anchrage area is exessivly corroded : im hopeing that meens the cill
6. Offside rear seat beat.... : cill again i think. hope it not under the car
7. Rear zorst clamp loose : D'oh I forogt to get a new one as the treads are buggered on that one
8. Near side rear lower ball joint locking pin missing : DOH I forgot to put one in there
9. Off side rear lower ball join.... : and there
10 Offside rear upper tie bar/ rod locating pin retaining device not properly locked : guess that mean one of the locking collor on the adjustable arms is loose again
and an advisory on the near side front brake pipe.
Not too bad except the welding as the sills are fecked
All going well here so far! Just need a bit more power now ... should be fine.
Not worked out why the front-left does the 'glass breaking' crunch noise on slow bumps though, and need to stop the exhaust bouncing off the bodywork/subframe constantly, but otherwise ok! :D
