I present an OBE to Mike (Hallsy67) for doing the brake conversion and also leaving work and driving 30miles to jump start my car yesterday when the battery was dead.
An OBE to Mike (fielding) for doing the brake conversion and always being helpful
An OBE to Mike (buffy) for sending me a nice pushrod for a twinplate for free and offering a hand to fit the gearbox
An OBE to Rob (dhracer) for helping me fit the rod and tune the hyraulics this upcoming evening

Also a recommendation from me to not use interpro because they are too costly, they wanted a minimum of £550 (after saying 250 on the phone) to do a relatively straight forward but slightly unusual job (fitting a modified ZX gearbox hence why I think they wanted an unsubstantiated premium) and said that it could cost a lot more then 550 saying they would charge for how ever long it took (ie wanting me to pay for if they cant work something out). The guy I spoke to was also fairly patronising and offended me by saying this is a big boys game and college students should not get involved (im not a college student lol im 24 and finished uni 2 years ago  ). Im off somewhere else to pay an awful lot less thanks for wasting my time and petrol interpro maybe I should charge them £100 for an hour of my time they wasted and no doubt the additional wear on the gearbox by changing with a not fully disengaged clutch in getting there LOL.

Interpro are a complete waste of space for anything but simple power runs IMO, I was going to say this when I saw you were taking the car there but I didn't want to bad-mouth them on an open forum.

Sorry, should have PM'ed you :(

Yep I know you shouldnt say certain things due to legal implications, that is why I have stuck to they are to costly and they offended me with a bad joke.

Out of interest fella where'd you get your new gearbox from?

They are expensive but they did some nice work on my previous car. I'm doing everything on the 200 myself (except the clutch) so far.

You're not tempted to do the gearbox yourself?

I have a twinplate that needs looking at and is a pain to align unless you have an input shaft. I dont have the tools, I cant get teh car hight enogh, etc etc.

If your old gearbox is shot, why not use the input shaft from that?

This of course doesn't help with the other things you are missing... but if Buffy has offered, you may be able to arrange to meet in the ND workshops :D

Dont know how I would take it out I think you need special kit to take apart a gearbox, like gearpullers etc

Maybe something I can learn in the future.

They give the impression that their quoting method is basically to think of the minimum they could possibly do it for to get the business, then to keep nudging it up over time. They took my engine apart having given a good quote for a rebuild, only for it to keep going up until I went and fetched a pile of bits from them and gave it to Datmo to rebuild

You can use makeshift tools to align the plates. Algie's has been aligned with a metal rular and some random thing which I've forgotten in the time it's taken me to type this post :wack:

What have you compared it to?

babe
30-06-2006, 22:32
compared to powerstations, interpro give you extra 10 bhp

Parker
30-06-2006, 22:34
How do you know Powerstations don't give you 10bhp less? Were the atmospheric comditions the same on both days?

Let's not let have any unfounded slagging off of anyone's work or facilities  Rolling Roads are always going to vary by some degree, 10 bhp between one and another is actually a reasonable degree of accuracy IMO, given all the variants :) Interpro's RR set up is actually pretty good in my experience.
