View Full Version : Congrats Yak - Another Trophy
Yak finished 3rd in todays sprint
Only beaten by a 400bhp Cossie "that wins whenever he turns up" and a VXR200.
I was 5th, with a Z32 inbetween me and Yak.
I have a list of excuses, had minor issues with the S13 - last minute took the (unprepped) S14a with "test" 4Kg rear colivers but still my 8Kg front coilovers - er, interesting balance :wack:

Was it odd watching him go round corners level instead of leaning like an off roader? :wack: :D
Well done guys another great performance :notworthy :notworthy
I didnt get to see him run, we ran in number order I was 19, he was 23, Mark - SparkyHX will be able to give a better idea + some pics maybe :D
Well done yak
And not a bad place for the, ahem, just slightly less than perfect condition of your S14a at the moment kev ;)
Nice one yak! Looks like all the effort last weekend was worth it. Lets see some times and piccies!
WAHEY!! More shiny things :D

Well that was fun. Even though the course only had 3 corners it was quite challenge. All of them third gear. Rather bumpy and not really a lot of fun off...
Vids to follow

pictures are on their way.
I thought Yak looked a bit 'timid' today, not his usual 'bold' self. He was more level but looked a bit 'bouncy'.
Maybe you need a couple of track days under your belt to get a feel for it and also to tweeek the setup.
The cossy was fast! - There was an amazing 'chevy engined' special that hit 148mph on the final straight - most every one else was in the 100-120 mark.
I absolutely loved a Fiat 500 :smitten: , the Ford Anglia :smitten: and the old Sunbeam Alpine :smitten: . There was also a cossy engined Sunbeam that was also very fast. The TVR engine TR7 was mental.
Well done Yak

Have to say it was one of the most challenging 3-corners I've ever done
sounds easy doesnt it
Launch - drive 400M in a straight line, 75mph. Gears: 1/2/3rd
Turn 90 left, forward for 200M, 90mph. Gear : 3rd
Turn long Right, forward 300M, 115mph. Gears :3/4th
Turn long Right, opens on exit. Gears: 3/4th
Over line @ 120mph+ in ~ 53-54Secs
About half a lap of the 50's + 60's F1 track at Aintree in Liverpool, go off the black stuff and end up in a horse-racing hedge :wack:
OK vids up. :D
Was kinda odd as the car feel totally different to how it was. Like getting in some one else car and ragging it senseless. Didn't really know when it was going to let go or not.
First on is from the 2nd practice session. Its had just rained on the track or was rather damp so was taking it a bit easier than the first practice (not that id seen the track be for, this was the 2nd time round.) I still managed to knock about a second of my time to about a 55.5 I think. At the start you can see the Z32 I was contesting 3rd place with for the day. It was running 275 wide rear tyres!
SM for once was being Farly careful on his practice laps and was still 9 seconds behind my time, was 10 on the first practice run!

This is the vid of the 1st flying lap.
Get way to much wheel spin and cant find 2nd at al for ages. Over cook country corner (the first one) and then get a bit more dirfty round bechers bend (third one)
Got my lap time down to a 54.6ish while SM maneged to lop 9 seconds of his time down to a 10th behind him :notworth
http://www.zen27248.zen.co.uk/aintree/aintree2a.avi
2nd flying lap.
Managed to get a decent start but kinda over drove it a bit :wack: Gear box was also complaining a lop. Surprised you cant really hear it on the vid but it made some really nasty noises in the car. Still managed to get my time down to about a 53.74, just 2 hundredths of a second behind the Z32 that was in 3rd place and getting on the podium (or getting an award)
http://www.zen27248.zen.co.uk/aintree/aintree3a.avi
3rd and last flying lap.
Well it was the last chance to get the 200 on to the podium! Was a bit more smoother and tried a different line around bechers which seem to help with the amount of wheel spin and slide I was getting. Geerbox still wasnt happy. Still the Z32 loped 2 tenths of his time but I got round the time in 53.18 and claimed 3rd in class :D
http://www.zen27248.zen.co.uk/aintree/aintree4a.avi
4th but not counted flying lap.
Wasnt really concentrating on this one and got a 53.76 but you can see how badly the car handles the bumps on the track at the mo. Going to have to see if I can change the set up to ride bumps better.

Right, now I see how you managed to be that fast!!
Other than the better start, as mine were crap, your just so commited / mental in the corners, I was too scared to push that hard in the S14 :ghey:
Well done, nice 100% trophy record for sprinting.
Keep it up at Loton ;)

Its hard being committed in a car you are not totally used too and have definite reservations about bending :p

Yep, thats true but why was SM that slow :p
So you coming to Loton SetA?
Oh and congrats to CNHSS1 who won the scimitar class by 6 hundredths of a second :notworthy
The weekends fun seem to have done something nasty to my ABS though as its gone on strike now :(
hehe that was very quick there was some points I thought you were treading the line and thinking about becoming a D1 driver too that was cool and on the edge :)
Whats aintree like that ? it almost looks like a non track ? does that make sense ?
Heh, SM said "Hey this isnt D1 you know" when we were reviewing vids between runs.
Aintree is actualy an old F1 track so there is some track history there.

Wonder if they'd let anybody drift on part of the circuit :D
I note the houses are acutally quite close ?
Yeah, the jockey club letting you drift on it. Id be rather surprised.
Full results here.

34th out of 106 over all aint bad considering some of the full race spec cars that were there. :)
So you coming to Loton SetA?
Although I am absolutely gutted to say it, I very much doubt it  The recent round of events has left me more than a little skint, need to save and work harder :wack:
Well done you guys, good to see you are sticking at it:nod:
Who's going to be the first to beat the Cossie then? :D
Maybe we can convince Jez to come up to the next one, day before Trax.

Who said Loton is near Liverpool - as far as I can tell its between Shrewsbury and Welshpool.
Unless there is another one! It looks good but its a bit far for me.
Yeah, it is near Shrewsbury. I guess we though it was near Liverpool as its organised by the Liverpool Motor Club. Looks like its going to be an early start that day :wack:
email on the way mate.

[its ESSENTIAL to walk the track here so get there earlyish too[/QUOTE]
I second that big style - I didn't finish walking the top of the course the first year I was there and was still accelerating over the rise before museum. You need to brake before the rise for the corner!
Thanks for the compliment of mistaking me for CNHSS1, but his little plastic car is a wee bit more played with (about 4-5 seconds more played with around Aintree!)
Good to see you guys again and that you are still picking up silverware.

Only kidding:D , well done Yak:clap:
I've looked into trying to get the licsense for these but Unfortunately due to a severe lacking of computer intelligence I've some how managed to fcuk up Adobe so when i tried to download the form the computer has a hissy fit:rolleyes: I want some sprinting fun:annoyed:
just uninstall and re-install adobe ?
sounds incredibly easy but for me, nope:annoyed:
