Kev
14-06-2006, 21:46

Jem

About 35 miles.

Northampton is around 45 miles from Peterborough.

Parker

If they could get to Southampton in the morning (preferably early!) I could run them up (although that might defeat the point of flying if they don't like long drives....)

Kev

Cambridge should do the trick then, it's dual-carrage way all the way.

Luton or Stanstead wouldn't be tooooo far mate, obviously a bit of a pain in the ass but you know, what you do for love eh? :wack:

Kev
14-06-2006, 22:10
aye mate, that and an easy life :wack:

most the flight places list luton and stanstead and even east midlands, but having problems with cambride, i take it its wee??

Cambridge is tiny mate. I'm guessing Luton is probably the quickest

Edit: Having looked at it, there's not much in it. All the way down the A1(M) for Luton, or A14 then M11 for Stanstead.

Yeah Cambridge is pretty small, and to be honest, by the time you have driven through Cambridge to get to the airport, you could have driven the extra 25miles to Stanstead, and Stanstead you could be in and out of in 5 mins:nod:

Sideways Danny
15-06-2006, 12:54
Luton would be easiest, Stanstead about another 20 miles, I know the area like the back of my hand so piece of piss to sort out, might even drive for you so you don't need to worry about drinking

Jord

Cambridge airport is privately owned [by our company incidently:D] so commercial flights don't fly in there, only if your rich enough to have a private jet.

I'd say East Midlands is your best bet.

You drunk? it involves the A606 mostly as a direct route or A52 to A1 at Grantham as an easy route to follow. But hey, I only live here what do i know

I'd be worried if people couldn't follow two roads. The A52 goes directly East and the A1 directly south. The Eoe is a stones throw from the A1. Alternatively the A606 meets the A1 at the Eoe so you cant really go wrong.

Otherwise TomTom is your friend if thats difficult?

arry
15-06-2006, 15:04
small mini A roads with pissing about or 70mph all the way down to Stansted, I dunno

edit: in fact even RAC routeplanner has it down as 15 mins the worse as opposed to stansted and they only go on something stupid like 50mph average on Motorways

Getting to EMA is a pain in the arse from Peterborough (and I cant see how the A52 comes into it:confused: ). Best bet would be Luton, or Stanstead.

A52 then onto A1 was the route I'd chose of example if I was retarded and couldn't find my way out of a paper bag.

But the A52 is nowhere near Peterborough. If I was going from Peterborough to EMA I'd go A606 and then onto the A6006 at Melton.

There are trains that run directly to Peterborough from Glasgow/Edinburgh, not a plane but given that you don't have to arrive an hour beforehand or drive for 50 miles...

Oh and its Stansted

u wanted the Scottish accent, so i called u wee sacks as is common in Glasgow, as well as neebs, bawbag, mucker and many others:)

Stu, where u getting the info about the trains.
i can get her to Edinburgh for about 2pm.
what train could she get down to peterboruogh for?

Its a case of she wont be at JAE for the friday, but ill be nipping out from there on the sat to pick her up.
i recon by the time u add in booking in time etc for airports and the fact the nearest airport is so far out, might actually be quicker for her to get a train :)

Scotair used to fly into Cambridge but seem to have finished that now :( Shame, as I could probably get a free ticket from the company in question. :(

Ahh well, looks like the train. :)
