Was wondering if someone (ARRY) might be able to put up a points thing for us mere mortals of what is good and what is bad for Quotes?

Obviuosly i would never say im a librarian instead of a student to get cheaper insurance.
Nor would i say that im staying with my sis cos she is in a better post code.

Obviously:D

So tell us the things that are good and bad mate.

I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT ANY INFORMATION GIVEN IS A GENERALISATION AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON...

well, i think you got the two bestest lies there for reducing premiums.

in general any non-manual proffession is rated lower than say a builder.

and obv the postcode has massive importance.

other classics are of course "no sir this car is completely standard - i have no idea where that extra 100bhp came from"

married with kids is of course better than single and jaffa'd

garage always helps... about 5% discount in general.

age - when ringin for a quote if you are fast approaching a birthday tell the broker - it will prob reduce the premium if they run it through as one year up and the broker will prolly be able to get it cleared by the company...may save a few quid.

intro discounts (only applicable to over 25's) - if you havent got any NCD of your own you "could" say that youve been driving company vehicles for the last 6+ years... this will give you a full discount. Make sure the letter you produce is from a valid firm tho - the insurers may check up so get a mate to sign it!!

security - although this doesnt so much reduce premiums nowadays, its more of a stipulation that you must have it in order to get covered...even for third party only policies.

claims - if you've got a particularly nasty claim behind you in which the insurers paid out a mega fortune - dont disclose the full cost of the claim, just say you are unaware what the final costs were.

you "could" lose convictions 4 years from the date of offence by sending your licence back to dvla.... however you "should" declare them for 5 years - but if it aint on your licence then they cant find out you had it.

oh, and MOST brokers do include a £15 legal expenses fee and a broker charge of around £20-30... so theres effectively £50 leeway in most quotes... whatever your best quote is go back to them 20 mins later, say youve had a slightly better quote from a rival firm and they usually will drop to match it.

anything else i think of i will post up

i DONT RECOMMEND LYING TO INSURANCE COMPANIES THO - ITS IMMORAL

AND IM NOT REALLY ARRY.. ACTUALLY I DONT EXIST,, AND I NEVER DID ANY OF THIS - HONEST
