View Full Version : My wife is getting picked on.....
Why oh why can't these guys appreciate a fine piece of automotive tuning done by one of the best tuners in the country? :(
http://www.saxosports.co.uk/forum/posts.asp?threadid=57476&forumid=1
Can't wait till the new clutch arrives and we can get the Micra on the rollers and down to Santa Pod, seems like no-one believes unless they have been "educated".
The Micra is now on RC Developments web site under Picture Gallery. I managed to drive it around at full boost for about 4 weeks before the clutch started slipping badly and it really is as quick as claimed :D .
Cheers,
John
what are this lot on?! these are saxo owners taking the mick outta micra's right?? wtf have they got to go on about!
didnt one of their lot post up that he beat a porsche 911 the other week?!
I took particular offence to someone saying that we obviously couldn't afford a decent car (I assume they meant a Saxo here), when realistically we've spent more on the Micra than it would cost to buy a new VTR (and even then it wouldn't be able to keep up with 2 kids in a Tesco's trolley) ;) .
And what is this thing about Grannies driving Micras, practically all the Saxo's I see around here are driven by old people or Mums doing the shopping/school run trips
Don't get me wrong, there are some mint Saxos out there with some serious performance built with a lot of time and effort from their owners. I can appreciate these cars and understand why they do it, but why can't the majority of people on that forum do the same for other cars? :(
A minority on there do seem to know what they're on about and you seem to have got some respect from the ones with brains(sure they confused the hell out of most of their other members talking about compound charging though  )
Unfortunately the rest conform to the usual Lax Bowels Saxo owner sterotype :(
You must have known you would need thick skin about those sort of comments before you decided to run a performance Micra though JohnW?
200 bhp

No - seriously, it's true. It keeps up with M3s aswell (but only because he wouldn't pull over and let me past;) ). It's way quicker than my 200.
Jeff - yeah, I expected some disbelief:rolleyes:
well i believe ya for one john
saw plenty of micra tubbies down at billing this year and, although its not my kinda car, cant argue with the fact that a 200bhp one is gonna be fast as fook!
best of luck to ya is what i say
Cheers for the support guys, but...
I've had a cracking Chinese and a bottle of wine with my wife and have decided I don't give a fook what anyone thinks :D
I know what the performance of the Micra is like (and it's gonna get even better ;) ), and I know that every time I drive it I come home with a stupid grin on my face :D and that's the only thing that matters.

Agree with both comments! :) Respect for anyone that is enthusiastic about their car (whatever it is), saves us all from the car become just another cunsumer durable (whatever that means ;) )
Even the Saxo, Nova etc. folk deserve some respect for being enthusiastic, it's just when their enthusiasm turns into mindless ignorance that it gets frustrating, negative and pointless (like 1 or 2 of the numpties on that Saxo Forum)

No mate - not yet. Not had chance. We went to SP the first w/e in Sep but by the time we got there (just before midday) they weren't allowing anyone else to run.
We had a Helix 3 paddle clutch kit fitted but it only lasted 6 weeks :( before it started slipping and there is now no adjustment left in it. RC have a twin plate clutch kit on order which is due to be fitted as soon as it arrives. Hopefully there will be a LSD, 4 uprated injectors and a S-AFC going in at the same time, but like everything for the Micra, it takes a long while to import stuff from Japan or have stuff custom built over here.
If all goes to plan, we aim to be running the car at Santa Pod the last weekend in October :D.

That's the fun thing about it mate, there aren't any others like it outside of Japan :D. We've had it for a few years now and started modding it the usual way until Bren put us in touch with RC and the turbo conversion came to fruition. The whole install is custom made by RC.
Check out this Jap March turbo conversion...ours is running 1.15bar boost ;)

well done mate... takes a big man to step down from his words
(oh and im not being patronising or anything... just glad to see you came round:) )
A long long time ago, I had a 1.0 bubble shape Micra (K12 innit?).
if it weren't for the infactuation with the S13 200sx, I probably may still have it.
And I had already made a couple of calls to BBR regarding just such a conversion, involving turbos :)
*sigh* if it wasn't for the 200sx (which has now been dragged off the road thanks to someone reporting me for having no tax) I may have a funky micra still :D
oh just spotted a post: "the suspension was all over the place when I turned corners"
well that's a nice informative well-written post. What the bloody hell does that mean? I had no problems putting my micra around corners and you can quite happily ask the bloke in the red astra GTE why I was able to keep up with him around a certain part of blackpool..

My Dad had a Saxo driver challenge him to a race the other day.
SaxoDriver : "My Car is faster than your Piece of Sh!t!"
My Dad (Who happens to have a ZXTT RR'd at 380BHP) "Really"
SaxoDriver : "Yeah, it has a Stage 2 Head."
My Dad : "My that must be fast"
SaxoDriver gets in his car, with a spin of his wheels, exits the Motorway Services.
My Dad follows and then decides to blast past him. Saxo driver tries to keep up, but doesn't really stand a chance :D
WTF do these guys think they are driving?

Also, read somewhere that Nissan is going to be competing in Rallying next year. In a Tubocharged 4WD Micra. Should be the Nuts.
