im going on a drift day at silverstone on monday:D think theres 14 of us going down from loughborough/notts, area must be a few off the board:thumbs: ... as im a newb to track drifting ie: never drift on the roads kids.... is there any stuff i should/should'nt do, and cheers to epracing for sorting this out:Plug:
Tyre pressures, oil, water.
THe most important things to check prior to, at lunch and before you go.
I tend to run std front tyre pressures now but I used to run 5 psi up
Rears, depends on the tyre size tbh. You need to up the pressure slightly to at least 38 or so. But like I say I used to run 5 psi up on std on the front and 10 psi up on std on the rear. It helps to break traction :)

Dont worry about speed, that will come with experience. Concentrate on getting it sideways and controlling the drift.
If you understeer dont just mash the throttle to get oversteer, it doesnt work.:)

me too, driving down from donny/sheff
it's only my second drifty day (did a drift academy course last week :) ) but the best advice i've got is stay clam,if you just relax you'll enjoy it loads more than if your stressing about how your drift's are looking from the outside and such like,

Not giving away to much but the trick is not to think about it too much and just feel the car, dont react to the drift, steer with it

take half an hour at the start of tracktime to just chill and watch everyone else rather than jumping straight in the que then when your on track just have fun :) don't worry about hitting cones, spinning etc
it all gets easier with time :)

I mean that your natural reaction is when the arse comes out, you THEN react with opposite lock, I mean feed the opposite lock AS the arse comes out (remember your telling it to step out with your right foot anyway).
