Just wondering what would be better on track. Anyone know?

I'd go for the slicks, I think they have to be worth double the width
Although I really cant say for sure.

Have you thought about rally slicks on R33 GTR rims, the Stevenage bunch use Maxsport rally slicks on std rims to good effect, they are out cornering me with 8/9" 17s and road tyres.

Apparently they are going to be making some 17s and they are road legal, and the 16s are only £60 each

Hopefully the new 17s will be cheapy so you can have your cake and eat it

Sweet looking R33 rim
Proper width
Grippy cheap road legal tyre

Winner

Juz was melting his F1's on pretty wide rims yesterday - looks like heat is their biggest weakness...

Doh!! Forgot about those little calipers... :D

Looks like I'm going to have to wait for the 17" Rally Slicks then.....

Green meaney wasn't

More likely to be working them too hard, not enough pressure etc

Or 17" semi-slick trackday tyres, DJ01's, R888's Bridgestone RE050's - see johnboy's "what tyres" thread.

I stuggled with 235's but have to say i'm very impressed with the rosso's. I will be going the R888 way when my new wheels arrive...

I think it also depends on driving style and how hard you push in the corners.......

I'll add my 2p, the F1 (225F, 255R) are nice and progressive, but I to was getting squirm (overheating) after 15mins and could have braked later had I more grip. But for a road tyre they still great.
