Hey Bren,

Just thinking out loud. But it would be interesting if there was a V mount kit available off the shelf which would make the whole process much easier. Just thinking out loud.

I know someone who has a v mount setup *cof* and could be happy to supply R&D in return for parts ;)

when my Xantia is working, I can take my S13 off the road and supply my parts to you Bren. They are all homemade and should be considered templates to make proper parts from (i.e they are welded up box section tube mostly and could be prettier)

If you're interested in me sending you all the stuff for a few months, Id be more than happy to. and if it's possible to get a free 'production' kit in return, I'd be absolutely delighted :)

Can you get me some pics? We cant doa lot of further development work on them so the kist would have to fit. we can neaten up the pipework etc, thats not a problem, we just cant start sorting mounting brackets etc  We might as well do it ourselves if the kit needs that sort of finishing.

my webspace seems to be down... I'll whip the bumper off and get some pics on the weekend. some parts I can tidy up how I want it to be before sending it to you :)

its a bolt-on item on my 13, which needs 9 holes drilling in the car and the vertical bars that support the slam panel infront of the rad removing - no harder than a FMIC install through the battery tray imo (if you had a kit with brackets... all the trial fitting and fettling was a PITA) :)

I'd need to sit infront of a 14 to make sure it was compatible with both cars, I dont see why it shouldn't be, possibly needing different hoses.

biggest thing you need/want are custom ICs with end tanks that intaxe/exit pointing in the right direction... a normal FMIC points in totally the wrong direction (this is currently the worst part of my install as I havent had this done)

Wouldnt you also need a suitable vented bonnet ?

it would most definately help, however I have been unable to get the cold side of either my IC or radiator warm to the touch yet, even with drifty and track use, and I still havent sorted my vented bonnet out...

if it was more like the driftworks arrangement, with the intercooler almost horizontal, then yes, you would absolutely need one.

What did you do about the rad cap? Have you converted it and fitted a proper header tank or just left it as standard?

I have the hose running slightly higher than the thermostat housing, with an off the shelf radiator cap and filler attachment hard pipe running inline, which then goes off to the stock expansion tank as per normal. my radiator cap (the one still on the radiator) I collared up where the spring is so that it cant open. a decent swirl pot leading off to the expansion tank would be how Id do it if I started over though :)

Interesting, i know Phil has done this to his and it was quite some work. Surely the USA or Japan have kits?

We can get custom intercoolers made, that isnt a problem :)

what about custom radiators? :) thinking aloud and might drive the expense up too much, but a smaller (in terms of height) and thicker radiator would be much easier to install and mean no cutting through the slam panel supports and supporting them with something else. this would then be guaranteed to fit with any bumper too

I can get rads made to my specification but the company Id use are involved in making the F1 rads so they arent cheap

fair enough :)

would be fairly easy for someone to get done if they wanted it themselves anyway :)
