I've just got myself a Pioneer DEH8400MP

Now it will play CD, MP3 and also WMA (Windows media audio?) and it will also play all three even if they are in folders and mixed on the same disc...
Anyway, it says also that it will run a CD changer.

Now does that mean that I can put MP3 and WMA discs in the changer as well as the signal is decoded in the Head unit?

Or do I need to find a MP3/WMA changer as the signal comes directly from the changer it self??

Any ideas??

As far as I know, its the changer that will read the appropriate format.
If you stick in an MP3 cd into a changer that is not MP3 compatible, it won't be able to read it.

Don't buy a changer , buy and EMPEG with a possible 120GB storage you will never need to touch a cd again in the car.

Didn's right, the changer needs to be compatible to read mp3's etc although it'll be able to read normal music cd's

as a sidenote I think the 8400 is the same unit you can upload your own screensavers to and use just like pioneers own animated displays :)

You can also upload the pioneer graphics to the empeg.

All i can say is look at Riocar.org and you will want one!
