My girlfriends been looking at a mercedes A class. The one with the manual box but auto clutch system. Apparantley the car senses when you back off the throttle and engages the clutch. it's effectively an automatic with the functionality of a manual box BUT.............................can it be driven on an automatic only license or do you need a full license?

as I understood it manual/auto is defined by the presence of a clutch...............but am I wrong?

It's drivable on an auto license :)

Nice cars, too.

cool, thanks D;)

in that case, I think I'll have to get myself added to the insurance, never driven a merc before! Does that mean I have to become semi pretentious?

hehe, sx owner who drives a merc, is it as bad as a BMW? :D

I was looking at getting an A-Class, in some stupid "buy the sensible car, before the silly one" phase :D

I fondly refer to them as 'the runt' ;)

I'd have one :)
