View Full Version : Any S14 owners want to test an H4 Hi/Lo HID kit?
We are now able to supply a wide range of HID kits at good prices and have access to the Hi/Lo kits which give an HID Xenon High beam and full beam unlike the cheaper single HID kits that use a halogen full beam.
We can do prices similar to those seen on eBay and the kits we supply are one of the best selling in the US.
We've seen some really good results when fitted to other cars and see no reason why they shouldn't be a great upgrade for the 200sx
We have an H4 Hi/Lo HID kit here that we're happy to do at a highly reduced price of £225 in return for some before and after photos and feedback on the fitting and performance.

Is there anyone with an S14 who'd like to give it a go?
Can I try them on my MK1 Golf

Hi Juz :), it's a kind offer mate, and we can definately do you a set for your golf, but with this set the reason why they are so cheap is because we want the fitting guide for the website :).
Andy: this set are for the S14 only as Juz mentioned, we do do H1's for S14a's though, we'll be organising a group buy on both S14 and S14a once we have comformation that theres no fitting issues. :)

I thought it was the S13 that used H4 hi/lo bulbs?
In which case, I'd be happy to fit them

Yeah the S13 uses H4 too .. Once we confirm that the kit works for S14 we'll be doing a group buy for S13, S14 and S14a. The kits are very high quality, we just like to confirm theres no fitting issues with anything that we sell before we offer them to you lot ..

The only thing I would really be concerned about is that the S13 uses a reflector instead of a projector system.
That means that because the colour temperature of the HID bulbs is different to the incandescent bulbs they were originally designed for, there's a chance the fresnel lenses on the front of the units will scatter fringes of light as well as the chunk of light that they're aiming. That wouldn't have any affect on full beam, but when running dipped it could cause dazzle to other road users as fringes of coloured light are scattered upwards. I wanted to see whether that would be the case...

Nene, I totally agree and it's exactly this we want to get clear before we start pushing ahead with these properly.
I've got another couple of H4 Hi/Lo kits coming now and I'll give you a shout once they're in. Should be a couple of weeks max
We also have a couple of H1 kits for the S14a's on the way. One's going onto Phil's car and we'll be looking for someone with a slightly more sensible car to test the other :p
H1 kits will be a single beam only, it's only the H4 and 9007 where you can have Hi/Lo

just out of interest Phil, will i need a switching relay 'a la cookie' ?
just out of interest Phil, will i need a switching relay 'a la cookie' ?
nope, not for the Hi/Lo kits
With a normal single beam HID kit used as main beam, it will turn off when you go to full beam, then there will be a slight delay when you switch back, so you can end up with a brief moment of darkness :wack:
Cookie's relays ensure that the main beam stays on with full beam too, which avoids that issue.
With the Hi/Lo kits, the bulb is always on, but the unit contains a solenoid which moves the bulb in relation to the shield for the full beam, giving it a wider throw
The ballasts only draw 7 amps max of current in the first 5 seconds of startup, so there's no huge power requirement problems either :)

We still need an S14 owner to try this set for us at the massively reduced price :).. Any takers? :)

How long should it take to fit this kit to a s14?
Do you have to cut and join wires or is it just a simple plug and play?
Im interested in testing them but i like to know what im getting myself in for.
cheers
ste
I have the S14a kit taken care of now, thanks guys
It's a fairly straightforward plug and play job, just a case of swapping the bulbs, mounting the ballasts, then poking the wire conectors supplied into your existing bulb connectors :)
Once we have the test kits sorted, and assuming the test results are good, we'll be running some group buys on these shortly :)
We have a test kit being fitted at the moment and another couple of test kits on the way over.
watch this space....
*Cough* S13 test fitting offer here *Cough*

any news on the s14a kits?
S14a kits for testing are on their way over, we'll have one on Phil's car and one on an S14a daily driver.
The S13 tests are going well, but have highlighted one or 2 issues we need to sort out befre they'll be suitable for everyone, I suspect we'll have to iron out similar stuff with the s14a, but as soon as we're happy, we'll be doing some group buys here :)
Sounds like the S13 kit needs some more independant testing :Plug:
Be careful what you say, you don't know how I've held the HID bulbs in :D

so how much will the kit be for the S14a?
If we can get 10 people interested, they will be £185 for a single beam H1 kit :)
Any word on the kits? How do they compare to McCullochs?

How will the hi/lo switching sliders cope with harsh suspension like Tein HE's??
If we can get 10 people interested, they will be £185 for a single beam H1 kit :)
If this includes anything else an S14a needs (e.g. Relay Kit) & is plug & play add me to the first 10 buyers please! :D
How's the S14a test coming along?
