Hi folks :)
if you have any suggestions for useful S13 related threads you think should be in this section,
if you spot any errors in threads in here,
or you have any information you think should be included on a thread in this section,
please post below
Notes from the editor :D :
Yes, this section is arguably a tarted up version of the Useful Threads in tech S13, but there's already a bit more to it and hopefully we can expand on things much further.
Many threads are closed. I have copied threads from technical S13, tidied them up and put them in this section. The main reason is to avoid clutter and 'great write-up' posts. Just because a thread is closed doesn't mean we consider it set in concrete - if you spot errors or would like to ammend a thread, please say here, or contact me :). Another reason for copying and closing threads is that the images and files are now hosted on the SXOC server so they wont go dead hopefully.
Some threads are links to open threads in other sections - this is because I considered them more open-discussion threads than write-ups.
I'll be working on this section as much as I can, but if you spot any obvious omissions, please say (I haven't copied every thread from 'useful threads' yet )

Just bumping this thread to say it's the one I've left open for suggestions/comments/gripes etc :)
Threads are closed for the reasons above, not because I've deemed them to be 100% correct :wack: Everything is up for alteration/discussion :)

Hi John,
In the first post of this thread http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=244129 the author, S13 Rab (?) makes referance to a "club" edition S13. It doesn't exist. Its just what the yanks and Japanese nicknamed them :)
Put that right LoL:wack: :D

Someone's been reading up on their new car it seems :D :wack: .
As soon as the edit button starts working ( :o ) I'll edit the thread and add your post :wack:

Actually shoot me, the "Club" and "Diamond" were trim packages:o
Lucky you hadn't done anything yet or my name would have been proper mud :D
Not really a suggestion sorry just thought i'd say this is bloody marvelous :D keep it up i'll think of some guides we need later maybe :D
Feel free to delete this after reading if it makes thing untidy :P I wont sulk too much..
A thread on suspensions that are avaliable would be great, and a thread on alloy wheel diameter, width and offsets. Bodykits for the s13 would be great also. Oo and a link to or a decent guide of a strawberry conversion. Alot of this stuff is avaliable with searching but in one definitive guide would be great. Especialy the wheels stuff. There is lots of contradicting information on that. Just a few suggestions.:D
Nice work Bennett :D
How about one on changing the steering coupling disc thingy?
Perhaps you could work your edting stick on this? http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=135361&highlight=steering+joint

Thanks for the comments :) (I'll leave your post for a bit, OFI :D )
Wak, the editing stick is broken still, but I'll add that soon
Saahid, if you have links to threads you've found useful, post them here, I'll link to them in the indexes in here (with a note saying 'guide writer wanted', perhaps :wack: ), and hopefully someone can compile something definitive from them (they're not areas I have experience of, so I may struggle )
Thanks to those sending PM with more info :) . I'll post in here when the stuff is uploaded.

Saucie, cheers :) you've got a thread now:
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=257824 So others can add to it (I've left it open).
Wak, I've pruned that thread a little and stuck it in faqs, does it look ok?
Rude, I've merged your post into rabs silvia info thread. If anyone wants to fill in the blanks/correct that thread I'll open it for them, as it looks a bit ropey in places - there's quite a few ?-marks.
Thanks to danielk for providing a video of a CAS rattle :wack: (now uploaded).

Don't suppose you could read throught the first post by rab, see what's correct, what extra info you have (e.g. the missing engine details) and put up a new reply (and I'll combine it) ? :)
Actually there's loads of stuff there, it is a tad bewildering, I wonder how much is purely specific to the almighty and how much could be made into a combined general spec list for the silvia? (maybe with colours to represent what extras only came on what model or something).

Very useful information there mate but i was thinking more along the lines of a definitive guide on what diameter, width and offsets will fit. By which i mean 19" wheels that are 10" wide with an offset of ET20 will fit (very extreme example from the top of my head). There are a few threads where some say 8" is as far as you can go on the front and then there is another where 9.5" will fit with the inner arches rolled. I will just go find the threads but basicaly something along those lines. Kind of a definitive how wide can you go or how big can you go with respective offsets. A How to fill your arches and fenders if you will. And ofcourse what tires to use with them.
Few of threads on wheels i found useful:

http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=220059&highlight=wide+arch
A kind of bringing togetehr of all the contradicting informtation into something that is 99% of the times accurate for majority of the people would be perfect as there are people on there with 9.5" with little work and 9" having to roll arches.

It'll arrive, maybe a month or two ( :o ). The S13 section is a sort of trial run for feedback on the layout etc.
If people like this format, then it shouldn't take too long to port the existing FAQ at the top of tech S14 into this format (it's editing the individual threads and re-hosting pics/data on our server that's the chore).
Rude - the Silvia stuff is looking great so far :notworthy

Sorry, I've got no idea - this is a FAQ suggestions thread :)
Daniel, I've added it :).
Shifty - for the moment it's best to put thread requests up in technical S13 - just say you've already tried searching. No-one should have a problem with that (I guarantee ;) ).

Colour codes! I often see body panels and what not goign cheap on here but have no idea what colour my car is! Trying to search now but a thread with info on where to find your colour code and the name of that colour with examples would be great! :D
I made this kouki wiring diagram using a circuit simulator, it's not the best but if someone could edit it it to make it more understandable it would be fine.
It has all been tested and it worked fine for me. In 'normal' use all four are sidelights and brakelights but when foglight is on, inner two are fogs and outer two work normal as tail and brake lights. Hope this is usefull to someone. :)

I jest! Its tricky to write down a definitive tuning route as I would never follow what someone else says as I'd try and find a cheaper but proper way.
I'd feel guilty giving someone a list to go and buy loads of stuff when 300bhp can be achived for hardly any cash (presuming that the engine is healthy) I think its more a case of people using the blaggers guide and searching the tech sections.
At the end of the day its a friendly place (most of the time :wack: ) and there is usually a friendly sxoc'er about who can help.

Yeah, but there are some things you definitely shouldn't do so I don't think its a bad idea to put a few idea's forward and let people choose for themselves.
A traditional, conservative and alternative selection is enough I reckon :)

I have a suggestion for the blaggers guide, get shot if the cobblers about wine at the end and replace it with beer and ciggies. :D
I'm not a sofistimacated man and it just looks :ghey: :D :D
Not really for the S13 FAQ suggestions but I can't find anywhere else to suggest it :P but for the forum in general...
I remembered using this Hexus site: http://trust.hexus.net/
It basically gives people an ebay type feedback system (an example http://trust.hexus.net/user_profile.php?user=4215 ) albeit with decent length comments so buyers and sellers know who they are dealing with. Perhaps SXOC could somehow set one up or even work with some other big clubs to set one up? It might help to cut down on the scamming etc that has been going about and credit those who are good to deal with.
Edit: Just seen this post by JB: http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/showpost.php?p=3122332&postcount=82

John,
You've put a copy of my thread-thread in this FAQ.
The original one (in the Technical-S13) has been edited meanwhile.
Is there a way to make the link "dynamic" so the new text appears in the FAQ too?
Or should I just edit on both places?

I think the idea was to have separate FAQ sections for all the cars, but it never happened as no-one had the time to do it. I'm sure it's been suggested a few times over the years to move these lonely FAQs to tech S13.
Nowt to do with me now, I'm afraid - I can't edit anything anymore, let alone move stuff. Not that I'd have the time anyway to maintain it. Shame though - I spent ages compiling stuff and copying attachments and links so they'd not get deleted over time. I'm not actually sure how I'd host stuff I write these days (still got a few guides and things on the back burner).
