Yup :)
They're Chromoly and weigh in at around 4.5kg and look a little something like this

http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/images/large/CAflywheel.jpg

They're £245 each or we're happy to do a group buy price if a few people are interested :)

I might be interested as well.

I won't ask for shipping to the States, though. I've got a friend in the UK still.

James
04-12-2006, 17:48
Right, we have a couple with us now and they're well nice :) They are just under 6kg rather than the previously quoted 4.5kg, which was deemed to be a bit too light.

Although it's a proven product in other countries, we're not happy to do a group buy until someone's fitted one to a UK car and confirmed all is well.
If you're interested in being a guinea pig, want one now for a special price and can fit it soon and report back, drop me a PM

Once we're happy with the fit, we can move with a group buy very quickly, everything is lined up.

I'll stick some pics of the actual item up tomorrow
cheers,

What would be the worst that could happen if the fly wheel did malfunction? I would be interested in testing it though and i will be doing a rebuild this month so it wouldnt be much hastle.

Im only 15 mins from Brum.

Up to DW drop me a PM with your thoughts.

If the flywheel malfunctioned badly enough and broke up at high RPM, I guess you could lose your ankles :wack:

ooooooh, i think ill be wanting one of them

James
11-12-2006, 09:47
yeah, malfunctioning flywheels aren't ideal :wack: but these are VERY proven products, we don't consider there is ANY chance of a malfunction here, it's just a case of fitment, they've been specifically designed for the CA18DET engine and box, but not with an S13 in mind. I'm 99% certain they will fit fine, but we're not happy with selling stuff that hasn't been fitted and proved good.

Peter, you have PM

Should be with you tomorrow Peter
We've had one fitted now and no trouble at all :) once we've double confirmed the fitment, we're good to go

here's a couple of pics of the actual CA18 flywheel (obviously without the locating pegs, which are included)

THE WRINKLY

Just noticed this CA18DET lightened flywheel.
Looks a little different to the original photos posted, but none the less looks impressive.
Presumably these are balanced at manufacture?

Having to replace the clutch very shortly.

Would you please advise a price for:

1. Lightened Flywheel as above.

2. RPS Max Street (full face clutch, not paddle), I`m told these will accept up to 425 lbs.ft torque........is this correct?
Will want full (3 piece) kit including complete new release bearing.

3. Uprated/Replacement engine and gearbox mountings. (Road use with occaisional track days.(Producing 300 bhp)

Many thanks.

Regards and Happy New Year
John

Hi Jon :)

These are balanced at the factory yes. There is usually only a very small amount of material taken out to balance them, which again is testement to the quality :).
We have 20 of them arriving very soon, I'll get an ETA on Monday. We'll also work out a price for the whole lot for you. The RPS Max Street (organic full face) is a very capable clutch that should easily suit your needs :).

Cheers

As above, these were the test lot that we had. We're very happy with them, and now have the first batch of 20 arriving soon :)

same please, im still interested.

Although its completely different to the original pics, Has anyone reviewed them anywhere? Will the price be cheaper now they are heavier and less machined.......

pukkasilvia,

The original picture shown was a sample picture to show you the quality and finish of the flywheel, it's not an actual CA18DET flywheel. The latest flywheel picture is the same flywheel as we originally proposed, the only change is that we have found 4.5kg to be too light.

The fact it's 6kg instead of the suggested 4.5 isn't a "downgrade", it's just the correct weight for the CA18DET.

Any estimate on when these will be available?? I need one before I can put my engine in....
