View Full Version : South West r/r day. Anybody interested?

Marc
20-03-2006, 18:28
After talking with a few people on the board, it has become apparent that a r/r day, similar to the one in December would be a good idea.

I think everyone was happy with the organisation and result which came from Janspeed in Sailsbury, aswell as its location. Of course, other location reccomendations are welcome.

Janspeed is located in Sailsbury, wilts.

This thread really is just to get an idea of numbers so that i can let Janspeed know, and get a price

Try not to blow your intake welds this time :wack:

I'll try not to - they've been together longer than they ever have in the past :)

I was down at Janspeed on Saturday - was going to run it then but my CDI ignition failled while it was idling in the queue... bloody thing - I hate intermittent faults - its all fine again now and I've not changed anything...

Ok ive just spoken to Janspeed, and they cant it us in until the 5th of August

So we have 3 options

1 – find another r/r that may book us in earlier
2 – take the 5th of August and wait for that
3 – they can fit us in any day in the week with about 2 weeks notice, so if we choose to all have a day off of work we can get in a lot sooner.

Its up to you guys.

i ain't really fused i work weekends anyway day in the week would be better! but yeah i just need some notice so i can put a request in

Sinbad
24-03-2006, 16:43
The other option is that the garage where I take my S13 is having their rolling road installed in May! They said they will be looking for groups such as us to hire it out for such days!

In Bournemouth!

I am up for either, I will enquire if anyone wants to do this?
Sorry to jump in, might just be a good alternative to get it in earlier?
Let me know!

Will happily do it in the week if everyone would still prefer the Janspeed day!

I won't be going to Interpro. :)

Do you mind if ask why out of interest Christian? I know there are a couple of staff there who have questionable knowledge, but I've always been quite impressed with Dave, the guy who actually does the runs, he seems to know his stuff :)

Nicely
25-03-2006, 13:19
Just personal preference. Bit of a trek for me (as Salisbury would be for others). Also, I find their figures to be a bit wayward.

I know every RR has its pro and cons, baving found a very good company locally (Janspeed), with consistent @ wheel figures and believable graphs, I'm inclined to stick with them. :) The £20 per run also plays a factor...

Jez
25-03-2006, 13:28
but I've always been quite impressed with Dave, the guy who actually does the runs, he seems to know his stuff :)

Same here, also RR result should only really be compared on the same set of rollers. Theres too many variables to make meaningful comparisions between results from different rollers.

Having said that - they are more expensive and further away from me...

25-03-2006, 18:27
I, for one, would be quite happy to wait until August for Janspeed.

Marc
25-03-2006, 18:30
just a thought then, we could book the aug date as the main r/r day for SXOC at janspeed, and if we can get 8 people to do a day in the week as a midpoint they can do it for £25 per person.

Moonhead
26-03-2006, 22:28
i'm off on my hols on the 5th aug, but the week day may be a go-er depending on work

Richy_Boy
26-03-2006, 22:49
I'd be interested, although salisbury is quite a trek from Reading :wack:

There's a company in Reading that have a rolling road, I'm sure they'd be happy to test our cars and hand out print outs (Clifford Cox Engineering).

I'd also be interested in a run on petrol and on LPG to see what differences there are throughout the rev range...

Aug at Janspeed would be good for me, would wake it a weekend trip back to the misses' rents. Aug would also give me time to sort the dodgy clutch and get a proper exhaust fitted.

dj_C
26-05-2006, 11:31
August at Janspeed sounds good. Will have run in the new engine by then, and also have a few of the new bits properly sorted... Would be good to compare to my last readout there, which was pretty disappointing.
