I have an old Geforce 2 GTS but it's in my Linux machine im afraid :( You can pick up a new Geforce 4 MX440 which is roughly equivalant to a Geforce 2 for around £65 delivered from www.microlanduk.com Would this do? Whats the spec of the rest of your pc?

take the geforce2 out of ya linux and sell it to me!!;)

spec of my pc:

PIII 450 (a bit ****)
128 ram (need more)
broken fan that makes a really loud noise when you start up
CDR that does not work
cheep 17" monitor

stained white, yumm yumm

I have not upgraded since i retired from the design industry (back then my comp was king, except from the SGI i used to use) and now i just want to play games without having to have it on the lowest setting :-(

anyone else got a card going cheeeeeep??

Some pretty good value ones at Dabs.

Click http://www.dabs.com/value/value.asp?s=374

The 64 mb DDR Radeon 7500 is pretty quick for £45

Add £10 to your budget and you can get a Geforce 3 Ti200 64mb :)

U want one of these

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=33762

£45 inc delivery.

Its a - Radeon 7500LE 64Bit Agp 64Mb DDR DVI+TV-Out

One of those will happily play all the latest stuff.

There's not much point you getting anthing more powerful as the rest of your machine need a serious upgrade to take full advantage.

Deffo get some more RAM as well.

HTH

ps. Ebuyer is THE cheapest place to buy anything computer related, there customer service is utter ****e though.

I have a Leadtek GF2 Pro that I'm going to sell shortly.

I still have the box for it. It's a 32Mb model with a TV out built in.

If you're interested, £35.

i need a new card too. but not sure if my pc can have one? i took the side off to have a look inside and can't find one! does that mean it's a on-board one? i have 2 free pci slots (white long things) and a smaller brown one. is that AGP? can i just slot one in and play games again? or do i need a new pc! hope not!!!!!

The small one looks like one of those useless AMR (audio modem riser)slots to me.

If you can disable on board graphics in BIOS you could probably use a PCI card..

You can get some reasonable PCI cards still. They're a bit slower than AGP equivalent but should be able to get something a lot quicker than the integrated graphics you have at the moment. I'm running a PCI Voodoo 5 card (it was meant for a Mac) which I bought very cheap. Its a bit dated now but OK for the moment. Runs all my games fine.

Disabling onboard video - may or may not be possible. I believe it depends on the chipset etc. Check your mobo manual if you have it. If not go into BIOS, and look for options like "Use Onboard VGA" or similar.. Might be in "Advanced set up" or it might not. Bios's vary a lot in menus etc.
