I've drawn up this table of engine management options

http://bagpuss.swan.ac.uk/horsham-developments/images/engine management options.gif

Device prices based on Apex Performance's web page - mapping costs are rough estimates, as are bhp figures.
Any comments? :)

My comment is; that looks good and cheap.

I have what you consider Stage 1 mods. I am very interested in what you can do for me having just read you little table and seen your stage 1 graph.

How do we proceed from here?

Didn't you map JC's old car with 740s on Emanage? It will be interesting to see how much power Algie makes on his Emanage Ultimate ;)

Yeah I did - it went well too, but wasn't ideal on part load etc.

You can get standalone for less than 800 ?

VEMS or Megasquirt comes in at less than that

Omex was under £600 last time I looked

Yeah, you're right - they're aimed at people with a DIY approach so quite cheap :) In fact the VEMS has some very good features that are only found elsewhere in very expensive systems. I'm not sure if they've got their hardware working with the Nissan CAS yet - may have to fit a crank trigger wheel and sensor. I think valve for money the VEMS system is great, although I'm not sure what support would be like if something went wrong. Seems to be built by engine management enthusiasts for ethusiasts. If I was going for a stand alone system I'd probably choose VEMS

I found the Omex 500 at ~£600 + loom + sensors to be about £800 inc VAT - might be a bit high as I didn't spend ages looking about.

I'm sure the VEMS group will be chasing that for an advertising quote :)
