Does anyone know where we/I can get info on how risky your postcode is as it does have quite an effect of the cost of your insurance. Any one got any ideas... except move to the middle of knowhere :p

you would be very very amazed at the difference between say, Moss Side in Manchester, to somewhere like Exeter.

every company will rate differently tho - even down to the car. For example, if you had company a and co b, co a may rate your postcode as grp 20 if you had an sx, or group 17 if you had a nova (hope this nightmare never happens to us all), whereas company b may rate them the other way round - it all depends on the company's experience with that particular model of car in that particular area of the country.

I keep forgetting to bring a copy of the ave postcode ratings home with me:mad:

of course, all postcodes would result in an equivalent insurance premium... IF THE POLICE DID THEIR FVCKING JOB PROPERLY instead of wasting their time chasing people doing 31 in a 30. :mad: :D

there is, along with thefts, malicious damage, accident rate, road classification - which basically "groups" roads as either dangerous or relatively safe (narrow country road with blind bends = dangerous, wide 40mph straight road with no cars parked down either side = safer).

As i said, different insurers rate differently for each and every postcode.... each one takes an overview of all accidents/incidents in the area and then rates it accordingly

The insurance on my (now deaprting) saxo was due, the renewal quote came through and was roughly £650. I rang them to accept (it was £300 cheaper than the previous year!) and told them I had moved - from HU8 to HU9 - distance of about 3 miles.

She came back and said that it was now.........£420 - I almost fell off me chair!

Buggery thing is, that that was last week and this week I've decided to get rid of the saxo in favour of an s14! The comapny it Citroen Insurance, dunno if they cover other makes :S

S13 200SX @ 200bhp (ahem.)
Driver aged 21, with 1 years NCB.

(Quotes for renewal time, y'see!..)

Anyways..

SN5 = £1200.
OL2 = £6900.

I **** you not. (Exactly the same company, same car details, etc.)

It's just a pain in the arse I'm moving to OL2, really. :(

'Arry, can you cut me a deal? ;)
