So this weekend was my first in a 200 sex, with a friend from Boston (Mass) over we decide to do the tourist thing, and put 400 miles on the car. Driving the back roads down to Stonehenge and then onto Bath later twas a relaxing day. Coming home a run down the motorway was in order. Been taking it real easy all day, learning the car and just chilling....

Jump on the M4, throttle up to a ton and enjoying power in 5th gear. I pass a little red Nova 1.2 on the way with a badly discoloured boot (white effect, looked like bad paint job destroyed by the sun) and Dave (passenger) catches a look at nice girl driving... we comment, smile and pass by at about 90.

Still cruising along, i'm drifting between 90 and 130 still getting used to the car and getting a feel for fuel consumption (as in watching the gauge drop infront of me) and about 20 minutes later...

we come up behind the SAME Nova...

hold on. I've just spent the past 20 minutes doing a rough average of 110 mph and your infront ?, I check my speed, and shes doing about a ton ten... christ, i take a look at the tiny wheels on this thing and i go white. I'll quote some of the conversation...

Dave: I see what you mean about the English driving quicker than the US
Me: Yeah Dave, but i dont think she really should be going that fast in that car...
Dave: hmm yeah, doesn't seem to be much protection eh ?
Me: god no, that things a tin can, at that speed she would be safer outside the car.

etc

I can't get past her, she bombing along in the outside lane and when we do cruise by shes on the phone... THE BLOODY PHONE ? One handed, paying no attention to anyone around her and shes nailing a 1.2 Nova (simple L, no fancy mods on this car) at 110 down the M4...

I hope she's still alive

There were a lot of REALLY AWSOME drivers out today.

A11. PELTING with rain.

I wish that I was such a good driver as them. Anyone who can safely control a car at 80mph in those conditions is a hero. If they can also brake within dry weather braking distances, they should be snapped up by an F1 team.

well, i was sideways round a roundabout this morning in the xr2i - not because i wanted to you understand, but because the stoopid pile of poo doesnt grip!!

after driving this thing a few miles i can seriously understand why the insurance premiums are so high for such a slow car - its because they dont steer and dont stop!

i dont welcome death - hence i dont welcome the xr
