Who the **** even considers these idea's

Over the last couple of years various racetracks have been given council warning to be quiet, even rockingham after they built some new houses NEXT TO THE RACE CIRCUIT ... I mean you buy a house next to a race circuit WTF do you expect you MORONS!!!

So WHO FFS thought building homes not just NEXT to silverstone, but on the track, forcing the track to be redesigned :annoyed: :annoyed:

Silverstone is likely to lose three of its fabled corners if plans to redevelop the Northamptonshire venue are given the go-ahead next week.

Circuit owner British Racing Drivers Club will convene on Wednesday to discuss whether to grant a 150-year lease to developer St Modwen Properties, which plans to build residential homes on the 800-acre site.

Details of specific housing plots have not yet been released, but the Daily Telegraph reports that they would be accommodated by cutting out Club, Abbey and Bridge corners and moving the circuit to the east.

Although the configuration of these three corners have been changed over the years – and Bridge bend did not exist until 1991 – the trace of circuit between Club and Bridge has been part of the layout since Silverstone’s earliest post-war days.

Bunch of queers :D

I don't see the point If they choose to live near a race circuit their going to have noisey cars going past there house all day. I only have to be quiet at the circut :P I can remove my bung and silencer before I leave and blitz past their houses.

So it doesn't really make the noise condition any better. Idiots!

You guys are looking at this all wrong. :)

You don't think loads of these houses are gonna be bought by people who like racing and want to be closer to it? I am in the market to buy a house soon, I think this might be the ideal place to start looking. I'll stay with my parents during the week in London for work and go to my home at Silverstone at the weekends. That would be the ultimate. :D

That would be great, but you KNOW that wont happen, didnt happen at any other race circuit, why would it happen at Silverstone. I like your thinking but it just wont work that way.

"I knew Silverstone was close but I didnt realise it would be that noisy with trackdays, F1 tests, GT testing, club races."

Fair enough with houses NEAR a circuit but these ones are going to be INSIDE the grounds of Silverstone. I reckon lots of racing peeps will buy second homes there as it will make their racing much easier. Like I say, I will certainly hold off buying a place until a decision is made, if only to help subvert the wishes of these dodgy old biddies who will possibly move in. :D

I think you'll prolly find that they will be bought by peeps who commute into London, and therefore want peaceful weekends

TT you live in a dream world  it just wont happen, why change one of the worlds great circuits to build some houses that are just going to be lived in by people who will complain about the noise.
I dont see people near heathrow saying it has good access to the airport, no they say its too fecking noisy.

No, I just think about things before whinging. LOL Again, you mention Heathrow as an example, these are people who live NEAR the airport, these houses are going to be built INSIDE Silverstones grounds, i think it is you that is living in a dream world if you think that people wanting a quiet life free from motor racing are going to move into houses ON TOP OF a race circuit where the British Grand Prix is held. There are three guys in my office, all of whom race in national series, who I have showed this to and all three are smiling ridiculously at the prospect of being able to buy a house AT a circuit so they don't have to use hotels all the time. I agree there may be the odd voice of descent, but I think most people who move there will be race peeps.

I think we'll have to just agree to disagree. :)

I wonder what would happen if you moved into a house near a train track.....'Sorry the train is too loud, your going to have to divert it'.

I DONT THINK SO:rolleyes:

Umm, maybe inside the OLD Silverstone grounds, they wont live inside the REVISED grounds though

You may scoff, but that actually happened near me. They didn't actually think about diverting the railway but the numptys who bought houses on the new estate right next to the railway certainly complained about the noise.

The owners obviously aren't making enough money from the circuit and realise the value of the land. Build a few houses, get people to complain, get the circuit shut down, turn it all into housing, make loads and loads of quick money, jobs a good 'un :indiff:

You'd think THEY would have more sense, I suppose its only a lease. I would be interested to read the deeds, I'd insert a clause relating to not complaining :D

I went to school near Silverstone. Even though we were on the outskirts of the grounds the noise from cars testing (F1 mostly) was pretty loud even when we were in the classrooms:D Depended hugely on the wind direction.

There is so much land around there I can't imagine why they would continue with pursuing areas for new housing so close to the circuit. They ought to aim just a few miles away to Milton Keynes, then at least the residents would be closer to a decent rail link to London, rather than having to drive for 25mins to MK first

I think THEY are facing bankruptcy, or at the very least losing the GP, which will lead to bankruptcy. Dont think they have a lot of choice :(

Sort of yes in principle, but not for one of the richest industries in the world.
There's plenty of money around, just being hoarded.

as I said, there's no way on this planet the houses built will remain within the grounds, the boundaries will be shifted

All air fields may be re classified so there the easyest places to build houses on (I think they were called grey or brown areas).

Instead of moaning why not start a pitision againts this sort of thing while includind a rough figure for how much fuel revenue they make at one track day.

because it will make sweet FA difference. They'll make more money from the land in 10 minutes worth of contract writing than they will in 10 years of track days

because it will make sweet FA difference.

Tipical British attitude and thats why the Gov rape us in every way.

We didnt except pole tax but roll over with an 8% in council tax and in France im sure they wouldnt roll over with the 24% increase on the cost of fuels.

There was a lady from Citizens advise on GMTV who could only come up with "get a better paid job" as a solution to how we can efford to live with all these rise,s that are way way above inflation.

But instead of sorting this out with numbers of people we vote on pop idol ,BB etc or complain that there was a naughty word before 9pm:furious:

ok, so say for instance you want to build a granny annex in your backgarden but your neighbours want you to stick a swimming pool in. The granny annex will make you money cos you can let it out to people but the swimming pool will cost you money in maintenance etc.....

If your neighbours campaigned against the granny annex - are you telling me you'd give in?

I would give them 300 eggs as a reward:confused:

I was on about building houses next to Combe and Silverstone as moving there and complaining should not be allowed.

If you moved next to a prison they wouldnt close it because you complain about to many crimanals hanging around.

Richy_Boy
02-03-2006, 15:18
Hopefully the criminals would be inside though

It's all very :ghey: Anyone buying a house within x miles of the circuit should sign a waiver so they can't complain about the noise. There becomes a point where the house value has been reduced to compensate for the noise pollution an what these people want is to have their cake AND eat it (i.e buy a reduced price house and be able to get rid of the cause of it).

* I'm not saying the houses are cheap in that area, they're probably really expensive, but if Silverstone was silenced they'd be worth a whole lot more, I'm sure!

The ironic thing is, people are being told to not speed on our streets and go on organised track days, yet these organised track days are slowly becoming more expensive and price the 'youth' out of the market and push them back onto our streets. only to be finished off completely by some old todger who didn't bother doing the research on the property before buying and is *shocked* when summer comes and his 'pretty garden' has the consistant whinning of engines being thrashed

well, that all depends on what prison and what they're in for. They ain't gonna let a conficted murder wonder off into the local neighbourhood, but then, the way it's going it won't be long!

Anyoe fancy an SXOC group buy on houses?

I'm sure we could negotiate a good discount for trackdays into the price;)

Seems like madness after the trouble other courses are having but the £££ signs are obviously just too attractive:rolleyes:

If they do lease the land, there'll be covenants signed between leaseholders and owners - along the lines of 'this is the score, mateyboy, like it or bleedin' lump it. Alreet?'

That's what Rockingham did with their new neighbours!
