I generally like supporting forums, that visit often.
However :D
As i read thru the membership benifits, i thought to myself, damn i cant use almost anything off the list.
* Access to the members only area
* SXOC email address - have my own server with 20 odd domains
* Your own page on the main site where you can upload photos and specification of your car - see above
* Bi-monthly Newsletter, available to download from the members area
* Club discounts with various tuners and parts suppliers - unless there non uk based shops, the prices are way to high ( yes I think everyone of you who buy parts within the UK is crazy, not your fault but the UK base prices for most items are way higher than the US, Aus, Japan, and germany )
* Club discount on car insurance
* Club merchandise
* Invites to be on the club stand at major event's such as JAE and Japfest
* Club only events such as rolling road days and track days
* Club oil analysis scheme
* Members only for sale section
so out of the benifits, i would really only use the members section, the members sale section, and the newsletter (which probably largerly Uk event based?)
Have you thought about having a 2nd membership package for non UK people? As we cant use most of the Uk based services, like events track days, insurance, and part shops for the most part.
not trying to downtalk the membership package at all, if i was UK based i would have already signed up, just throwing up a question/idea

Perhaps we could have "associate" and "full" members with the associate members only receiving the web-based benefits?

good idea imo. tbh i've used very few of the members benefits, if any at all, other than looking at threads in the members area and going to JAE :) doesnt really bother me as i dont have a 200sx or even a sports car anymore, but i'm more than happy to put 15 quid into the pot for htis place, certainly use it enough.
There is no reason you cant use the oil analysis scheme :no: We also have dutch members who visit us at JAE in the summer ;) :thumbs:

lets put that into perspective:
400mile to get to the french harbor (not including having to actually speak with the french)
theres 2 tanks of gas gone, 100pounds
ferry back and forth 140pounds :hurl:
gas once inside england to the meet and back to the ferry, no clue but probably another 100pounds
gas to get home from the ferry another 100pounds
food, hotel, entertainment 50-60pounds
that puts me at 500pounds to drive there spend one nite and drive back, just to get my oil checked? and of course meet a few of you wonderfull people and look at the same car i already own, just built with mods i cant afford.
ok enough sarcasim :D I cant be bothered to goto half the meets in germany, let alone seriously consider driving over from germany to one, course it would be nice speaking in english with people again. and with the new bodykit, i dont think i could get on and off the ferry which means taking the chunnel thing. when is this meet again?

Its done by post:)
The SXOC was launched as a U.K. based club so all the members benifits were tailored to suit the U.K. members, I don't think anyone thought it would grow to the size it is now and attract people from as far away. As it stands there are no plans to change the membership benifits or packages available for our overseas members, this is not to say that it won't be considered or altered in the future if the demand is there.
Its £15 for feck sake:eek:
Look at the info on this site, the helpfull people, constant laughs and other banter that goes on!!! £15 aint shit all for this:rolleyes:

You can have any membership package you want. It'll be £15.:D

Maybe they wouldn't be to pleased at having to speak to a yank either :indiff:
We have at least one member from Germany already. SR20DET. Top chap :nod: :thumbs:
Why don't you PM him and see if he can explain to you why he's just renewed his membership again :)

I think many of you misunderstood me, the post wasnt meant as gripe against paying for membership. But would you go into McDonalds with a mate each pay 15pounds for a happy meal, yours comes without french fries and without a coke, and not say something? if so which of you wants to go mcdonalds with me? It was more meant to raise a point that "some" (mainly me :D ) cant make use of some of benefits, and maybe no one had raised the point before, it was just an idea, not bashing the membership concept or price.
and as for the french, i can truely say from the bottom of my heart, yes i dislike the french, you trying being married to one for almost 10 years. (wasnt meant as an real i hate the french comment)
-->me :cry: :whip: <--wife
and i will being signing up for membership as soon as my paypal is working again.

+1 to demand
id be up for £10 international membership, suggested it includes:
* Access to the members only area
* Members only for sale section
* Bi-monthly Newsletter, available to download from the members area
* Your own page on the main site where you can upload photos and specification of your car
* SXOC email address (optionally, though ive got too many email addresses already)
no need for anything else (including initial membership pack and time/costs assosciated with putting it together your end/sending it)
i think international members would be more likely to join if they saw that they were paying less because they cant utilise all the benefits of the main package. i became a member on NPOC after only a few days because they had exactly that.
"Its £15 for feck sake" isnt that strong an argument, otherwise every single member on these forums should have become a member already? obviously as much as you do get for being a member, it still is £15
thats my 2 cents (or pennies, or whatever!)

the international membership question was discussed at the staff meeting earlier this year:nod: .
we understand that you guys don't get to access a lot of the discounts available to the uk members. however, what was agreed was that international members are still subject to the £15 (paypal £16) membership charge, but membership packs would be sent out at no cost, and club merchandise would still be available to foreign members, without a humungous delivery charge:) as well as everything you've mentioned above.
at the end of the day, we are a British-based club, and we don't have any plans for world domination, but we do appreciate the diversity of our board users:)
have a wander around the forum, explore the knowledge and experience on here. if it's relevant to you, and you feel you'd like to become a member, then do so, otherwise, the technical knowledge on the forum is for the most part FOC:thumbs:

Whats wrong with World domination :wack:
I think a £10 option would be a good idea. The more money in the coffers the more money to spend on servers and such like.
But then you would get peeps from the uk that dont use all the services complaining that foreigners get a cheaper rate.. Its probably alot easier to keep it the same for everyone
