Also a newbie from Bridgy myself.

Hi everybody.

I haven't got an Sx as of yet (Bit of a BM fan tbh) but I am on the look out for either an s12 Silv or an s13 for cheap drift project (which will undoubtdly end up as expensive lol)

I have a couple of cars in mind just sorting out cash flow atm.

@Slidder200 Whereabouts are you? In town itself?

It is nice to see some local owners. I am a frequent member on www.e36coupe.com and, as much as it has a great community, there seems to be not a lot locally.

Found the same with Driftworks not many from round our way?

When I get my wee drifter I will have to come along to some meets and track/drift days. At least I will have someone to follow when I get lost lol.

sounds nice!
It did :(

Does anyone know any good spray/body shops in the area?
I know a few but always good to no more for a better job/price.

Good value for money is J and B on the wireworks estate (where Dans scrap yard is on the way into Bridgy). They have always impressed me with what quality they turn out for the price they charge.

Sam DeGregorios on the colley lane estate are good sprayers, have an excellent reputation for quality but are pricey.
They repaired a little rust on the door of my old merc and blew the whole side in. Lovely job but £500 for it so?

Holley autobodies in Taunton do good work and K+B Creech castle Taunton are quite good. There is a body shop in Wellington that I can't remember the name of (south street or somink) that does good work as well. All quite pricey iirc.
I used to be a smart repairer so I have been and worked in most of them so can vouch for what I saw at the time.

The one is usually use is round by the train station in bridgy, a guy called Ash. On my old car I put there was a dent bout the size of a tennis ball in the rear bumper which cracked the paintwork over quite a large area, he did it for £80. Top job aswell.

Ashley Boucher I know of his work.;)

I would suggest he is similar in quality and price to J+B. I have not heard, or seen, anything damning regarding him.

I remember he painted a mates pug 309, all over colour change, for a grand and it looked the schizo. Beautiful coat of paint iirc. He was just starting out then mind so he might have been more eager to impress.

I personally would go to J+B and get a quote at the same time if that's where your going just to compare.

i knew there were a few owners about but it seems 200's are a bit of an elite group! i'm allways up for going to events in tandem but working for spoons means its hard to get weekends off as you can't go to a show with a mucky motor need one prep day before you go! stillto get the arse out properly but hoping to go to woolavington air strip for some fun!

Woolavington airstrip? Didn't know they had one there.

Can't get out on a decent patch of Westonzoyland airstrip that I know of. I was going to meander over next week and make a few enquiries re drifting.
I already have a supplier of old tyres just need the location now #adopts evil smile#

@slidder come out and meet me in my BM with yours we will soon change the arse out properly issue lol ;-)

I know one or two quiet places that will be fun on a damp night

P.S you work for Wethers? In there all the time mate (got to love cheap beer even if you lot don't wash the glasses lol)

I will make it my mission to find out who owns what out at Westonzoyland. I used to know a guy that worked at the Karting centre so I will start there and see what I turn up.

If I get any joy I will post it up here and Drfitworks ;-)

Yeah definately ask your mate who used to go out there see what arrangement he had.

Re who I knew out the karting track I am going a few years back but at one point my mate Darren was running it and back before that my mate Paul worked there (I have driven it in a maestro racing an astra and a mini lol)

I am definately going to go out this week and ask about as I have a couple of days off.

Yeah it is and it is badly mantained with lots of grass growing up in between slabs etc.
I remember losing the front spoiler off of a go kart at around 90 mph. Hit grass lump and flipped the spolier over my head  This was on the airstrip as opposed to the kart track mind

I am sure we could clean it up a bit though for free access?

BigD
26-02-2006, 17:24
yeah posssible. i was thinking more sideways though :D . how wide is it, an are there any good corners

squashedmonkey
26-02-2006, 17:26

BigD

Jimmons

As you go through westonzoyland where the airstrip is on the left, there is a square area on the right where people can just turn up and drive on (its quite small thou.....and full of 17yr olds practicing parallel parking in 1.1 fiestas).

My Dad took me there on my 15th birthday to let me drive in his 520i beemer :wack: No back end out stuff but I wasn't scared of the pedal on the right :D

27-02-2006, 13:03
That bit is too small really and like you said full of learners. There is another bit at the Westonzoyland end which is about half the size again but has no-one on it and is figure of eight able lol.

In the area there are all sorts of large open unused spaces its just a case of finding out who owns them and getting access.

Right I have been out and checked it all out. i have met with the owner of the land and had a good and positive chat with him.

He is not against the idea of using it for drifting but he is looking for something a little more proffessional than a couple of us going up burning some tyres up and going home.

I am in talks with a couple of drift day organisers and really am leaving it up to them to sort it out. Shame but the owner wants things like liability insurance etc and financial reperation to make it worth his while.

If it comes off we will have a local venue at, what I hope to be, a reasonable rate (I was suggesting £40 for a days use per person but who am I to make these sorts of decisions lol)

I will keep you guys informed.
