Just a quick question, can you map Hks F-con s systems

No, I'm afraid not. Sorry.

Incidentally, we have found in the past that some people have been quoted prices for Mapping HKS systems that is around the same cost as it would be for us to supply/fit/map a PowerFC!! Interesting thought eh?

Oh right, that seems a bit excessive. Is it because the HKS is difficult to map or the tuners that map it charge premium prices

Cheers though

Yes I agree with Gary when he says that he can supply and fit an Apexi Power FC for less than we charge to map an F/Con Pro.So do we ,often In fact we fit and map Apexi EMS of various types probably 3 a week.

But we are talking 2 different scenarios here. Whilst the Apexi is a good piece of kit, It is still very much a "budget" answer to the mapping equation, lets face it it has had very little evolution over the 6 or 7 yrs that we have been using it.

Whereas the F/Con pro is constantly being updated and improved and offers a vastly superior format with multi map options, higher resolution, more options and several trim maps for ambient air ,speed etc etc etc.

As I said before the Apexi unit is very good ,but it has some limitations ,particularly on the higher modified engines.

Now the AEM, well thats something else.

i disagree tony all our big bhp cars run pfc with lots of success, you only have to look at kens car!!!!

yes they are not full of functions but the function of running the engine it does very well even with large injectors.

for us any step higher than the power fc will result in a motec ecu and im sure even you cant doubt their capabilitys:thumbs:

Depending on the power james, if its always going to be around the figure you said yesterday, maybe the E-manage would be an other option. Otherwise i'll sell you my FC and i'll upgrade

Why not?

Justin, in our experience, E-Manage is nowhere near as effective as PFC.

Jolly F

I know that, thats why i bought a PFC. But for middle range power the e-manage seems to be a cost effective method. Many people on here have them with no problems. I accept they aren't as flexable, but there not as much to buy and cheaper to map...

Another cost effective way if a custom chip, again not as good but its down to what your looking for and budget...

Don't want to go E-manage. This will be a sort of first stage in the engine tunning i think. I'd like to put components together that are capable of adjusting to more power if needed at a later date, like the addition of a fast road engine with cams or larger turbo etc.

I think im going to do what Gary said and get the FC D-jetro management, this will be more than enough for now and will be able to support almost anything i could throw at it in the near future:nod:

Cheers for the offer though Jolly

Cars not going away for a few months, just need to start getting the bits together for the work. Im gonna drive the nuts off it when the brakes are on to see what we have created :p

Hello Gary, following on from the conversation in the technical section. Do you think it would be more beneficial for me to go for a GT2871r .64 instead of the GT28rs if im looking for 350ish.

With the D-Jetro, 740's and 1.8 head gasket i suppose i could run this sort of power quite happily. I've heard the 28RS maxes out at around 340bhp and i really want a little more than that.

Cheers

the hksgt28rs is a different turbo and has some mods to allow more power,

im not sure of the comperision to a turbo in the garret range

perhaps bren can answer

Colwell

Sorry i kinda worded that wrong. Was'nt meant to talk aboit HKS turbo's at all, just Garret ones.:(

Gary@APT
05-03-2006, 21:05
i would say it really depends on what power level you are after id say that perhaps a setup like batman would be good for you,let me go find graph

Gary@APT
05-03-2006, 21:09
sorry mate no graph but i have it at work ill see if i can get christian to scan it,

heres the thread anyway

Just read the thread on his car and it does sound good i just didnt want to get involved in cams just yet. I've also heard some bad things about the 3071 involving wastegate problems.

What to do. MAy be ill give you a call in a couple of weeks and discuss a bit more if thats ok.

Cheers for the help already though
