Yes mate,

I was a club resident playing house/trance for 12 years. Moved into studio engineering and production, and am now an IT technician at a college directly responcible for the Music Tech Suite (PC)

I still own a 16 track digital studio and Technics 1210's and a pioneer mixer.

Ask away!:)

Technics are definately the way to go. But if u don't wanna spend that much wonger, make sure you get direct drive decks.

Word of warning - buying vinyl is both addictive and EXPENSIVE!! ;)

First of all thanks for the interest.

If I have sampled a bit of speech from a film, what can I get away with?
Is it none of it.
6 beats worth before they get upset.
What?
Would I need to clear the copyright? do you know what I should do to use the samples?

Next, I have a cd with some dance stuff, I have done a straw poll of ten people who all think its really good. But what I need is the dance floor test. would the tracks get a good reaction?
Would any of you be prepared to help out with that?

Thanks in advance

If a sample can be recognised no matter if it is 1 second or 1 minute, without the artists permission you are in hot water if you press it and they decide there not happy.

Saying that, you can get things pressed at certain places that do not care what your pressing.
Sourcing permission to sample can be very tedious and time consuming, because a lot of work is not technically "owned" by the artist, but by the record label.

18 months ago i created a mix of a Tiesto tune and i used "Kosheen" "Hide U"accapella chopped up over the top. I went to a place (i will email you the address if you want) and got a P&D deal. You give them your work mastered to DAT or cd, and they take care of all slates publication labes and distribution. You get £1 a copy for each 12" sold and they get the rest. It might not sound a lot, but if you are working with material thats not completely legal, i think its the best you are gonna get. I ended up making over 2 grand all in all, for what was probably only 2 days work.
