Had the fortune to drive a calibra turbo this week, my friend being a prospective buyer. Im not into slagging cars off really, of any make or genre, but fk me. What a load of crap.

Untunable crap too by the look of it. Although it was claimed (dont you love those claimed figures with conveniantly no graph) 260bhp. Im not sure what boost can be run on these things, but from what i have heard they use an unusually high comp ratio, necessitating forged pistons early on in tuning. Eugh! and changing all 4 tyres at the same time is advised to stop the transfer box from giving in. Jeeesus.

My 200 might not be the best car in the world but its perfectly adequate for its money. The dashboard doesnt creak and rattle, and it appears to have an engine capable of moving the car around at a reasonable pace. 4wd? what a load of c0ck. keep it for the cars with engines powerful enough to need it.

Cavalier in party clothes, for £4800. nahhhh.
bo!

not very often i go on like that. must be something in the air.

A lad I work with has one, he "claims" 300bhp.

Really weird that, hes done a boost upgrade, chip and hybrid tubby. WTF He hasnt even done a zorst and filter  - the starting blocks of all modding.

He recently threw a piston, he said due to a blocked injector - more like it was getting too hot.

I heard the transmission is unreliable and also expensive to fix also. Someone once told me it was near 1K to replace!

But.......

A M8 of mine specialises in vauxhalls and had a Cav 4x4 Turbo (Can't be much different from the Calibra, apart from shell) and I have to admit that it went around the twisties quite well.

I'd have a vauxhaul Carlton with a bit of lotus thrown in.
