Will be at the meet assuming my SX goes through it's MOT this week without too many hitches

Scougar
30-01-2006, 02:46
Will be there along with my new exhaust (arrives this week). If anyone has a spare left front under engine cover with plastic nuts/screws i would love you to bring it to the meet, as I need the pull the left bumper back in since i *cough* tapped *cough* a kerb. (the plastic shield attached to the bumper that stops you directly seeing the engine when you look from underneath (if that makes sense?))

Adam0bmx0
30-01-2006, 23:04
I think we should just go for the times arranged.

Its not like were all gona be parked together like mammoth says, and the groups will be going off in different directions i'd imagine.

ok defo coming now, as got my exhaust today and fitted it. Finished work at 8pm (started at 5am ! eek), had dinner, went outside and put the car on ramps. Took me flippin ages trying to get the old bolts off :( Thanks to rusty nuts and them not wanting to conform to any "normal" size socket, took me 2.5 hours in total!!! That is the longest ever for any exhaust i have ever fitted, lol. Had to use the old bots on the cat, so will need some spring washers to secure now, but apart from that looks and sounds very sweet.

Top man to Adam for pointing this exhaust out as mine was snapped in half.

Point is, i won't feel embarassed now going to exeter :D

Matt

Adam0bmx0
01-02-2006, 11:14
Nice one matt, get some pics up!

Does it look identical to mine, and does it sit the same?

I had to use my bolts that where on the cat to as the ones with the exhaust were a tad to big.

Oh, and change your sig, its not standard anymore :D

Adam

Scougar
01-02-2006, 16:26
lol... will change sig in a sec :D

Yeah i had to use the old bolts and nuts... will need to get some grip washers or spring washers as i think the old ones may come loose. Will take some pictures soon (when i have cleaned the car). I've also kept the bolts so i can use them with a decat (or whatever).

so yeah coming to the meet..... :p

gadget_uk
01-02-2006, 18:18
Car just needs two metal brake pipes on the rear just above the subframe for the MOT.....which are being replaced tomorrow.....so i should be there Sunday.

Scougar
02-02-2006, 03:43
just bought the decat... dubious whether to fit before or after the jap meet, as wouldn't want to get in a fettle with 'the law' :ghey: lol

Mental note: Whatever I do i MUST wash the car :whip:

Matt

Danny5Yrs
02-02-2006, 11:21
what time at Exeter services then? The Mrs tells me there are no surprise trips abroad or hotels booked or anything for my imminent b/day so may well be able to pop along.

I won't expect presents tho., don't worry.

Adam0bmx0
02-02-2006, 14:54
2 o'clock at the services, and if your meeting people at the Beefeater at Marsh Mills roundabout in Plymouth then 12:30 ish

Looks like the Jap meet may be going for a drive around Exmouth/Teignmouth later on........although no firm decision made yet.

Scougar
03-02-2006, 02:07
Right bought a load of cleaning kit to wash the car on Saturday afternoon, and sunday morning. Might take some bottled water to give the car a once over, after the drive up to exeter as well.

Actually thinking about putting in the 'silencer' into the exhaust for the drive up, but not sure yet. Wonder how much it affects performance, and what it does to fuel economy (up or down?)

Matt

Adam0bmx0
03-02-2006, 02:08

Matt

Adam0bmx0
03-02-2006, 02:22
I know, im in the same boat as you. :)

I've painted my front calipers black, got to do the Nissan writing on them white and then paint the rears.

Can i have a look at your exhaust on sunday, i dont think mine is sitting how it should be, its touching the rear anti-roll bar,so think i might need to get some different sized exhaust rubber hangers and have a mess around with it/

Scougar
03-02-2006, 03:51
Yeah of course... why wouldn't i let you look at it ! :wack:

I need to fit some spring washers to the section between cat and exhaust. I'm guessing you need some to since you used the original bolts. I bought a pack so will give you a couple :)

What you reckon.. fit the decat before the meet?

Your front calipers should look nice now :) Yah gonna use tippex for the whitner :ghey: lol

Matthew

Adam0bmx0
03-02-2006, 12:49
Yea fit the de-cat, i want to know how the exhaust sounds with one as i've got a sports-cat :)

I dunno, you might not of liked me looking under your car  :wack: :D

And ta for the offer on the washers!

My mates got some white Hammerite for the calipers, problem is he's skiing in Switzerland so will have to wait till he gets back :(

Adam

Scougar
03-02-2006, 16:20
Adam,

I had a quick look under the car and its like 1mm from touching the rear arm where the two halves of the exhaust join.. so i reckon either fit a stainless steel spacer to lengthen the exhaust... or.... less preferabbly fit a slightly larger rubber mount.

Got the decat today :D will fit it. HOW MUCH was your sports cat as i really do prefer to stay on the right side of the law....

Matt

Adam0bmx0
03-02-2006, 16:38
I dont know mate, was on the car when a bought it and dont have a receipt for it.

Was under my car earlier on today (God damn its cold outside!)

And the bit where you describe with 1mm clearance is where mine is touching so a slipped a rubber/cloth small square patch in thier to stop it vibrating/touching.

Should be cool now :)

Adam

Scougar
03-02-2006, 16:52

Really liked some of the touches on the cars though from you guys... makes me wanna get a turbo timer; boost controller; induction box; fmic; new wheels; strut brace; decent suspension (that electronic suspension is awesome  ) etc etc etc

Good to meet you guys as well. Also really liked the guy with the CRX that came with us. Had a really nice silver k-reg CRX. Might be worthwhile finding a nice example and getting one as a cheap run around (since mines killing me on fuel lol).

you got that right.:wack:

does the tien edfc, do hight adjustment, or just dampening ?

clears throat :-

TIEN's EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) makes it possible for the driver to control the damping force by controlling a motor installed in the shock absorber while being seated in the driver's seat. Since the damping force can be manually controlled with ease to meet different situations, the driver can enjoy variations in the suspension setting.

You can adjust the height...but not with the control box.

lol.. WHAT BANK BALANCE... it never has balanced ! :( (which is wierd cos i have a really well paid job lol)

TIEN's EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) I JUST WANT THEM OK !!!! hehehe

seriously, i thought they were pretty darn nifty and so you can easily adjust the setting for the conditions and the type of road without a spanner :). Although i expect ou pay a high price in terms of 1. CASH 2. Weigh gain. (not from lazyness from the actual units) 3. things to go wrong

Midnite drifta - i was in the white S15

If my Teins are anything to go buy i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole! I'm ditching mine and getting a set of D2 coilovers from impulse to match my other suspension parts.
The Teins if they go wrong they go wrong and even though Tein quote about £80 - £95 form an overhaul, but they admitted to me that 90% of the coilovers that come in for an overhaul need £200+ worth of work on them to get them right. Also they can only be serviced by Tein.

Half the problem with suspension is that people don't service them regularly or look after them... They aren't a fit and forget part like a FMIC. Clean them often as you can, use lube regularly etc. I have a mate with a Pulsar on Teins, 40'000 miles and no problems... Because he looked after them :)

I love my Teins, and the EDFC rocks :)

Nice to meet some of you for the first time :) And to those I'd already met, was cool to see you :)

Channie.. working for the Land Registry eh? I was working for them for 4.5 months and developed a database for head office (and national use) :) You work in IS or plumer house (or perhaps eagle etc....) ?

Got a fab reputation but the permanent jobs are externally done so what you've done don't do you any good at all.. totally sucks. :(

Two to three days till the ball joint arrives! Its driving me mad :annoyed:
Had to prioritise what to buy next....
After taking off my rear wheels to take some pics of the D2 camber adjusters i noticed my rear shock has a dent in it. So thats two shocks that need to be repaired now! So i gave a Egg a quick call and they sent me a nice new shinny credit card that im about to max out;

- Set of D2 drift coilovers
- That bloody ball joint
- Cliford Matrix 3.5RSX Alarm (Before some bastard trys anything)
- 4 x Falken 452

- Cusco Front and rear strut
And seeing as the struts are coming from japan i thought i might aswell get:
- Greddy 500 oil catch tank
- Greddy Type RS bov
- Trust Airinx kit
- Nisimo side clear side repeaters

So loads of new shinney parts for me to play with. But gunna be broke and living off beans on toast for the next 3years! :hurl:

Cool. I paid £68 for mine(each not including postage). Look very similar to the ones im getting but mine have blue ends! Could hav safed my self some dough, provided they fit the S15, seeing as alot of parts that do fit the S14 fit the S15, aaprt from all the parts i want!
