"oh yeah, and the other day i saw this maclaren F1, and it beat me 0-60 but then i flew past it!"

Ugh - ignore the subject (which is obviously garbage), but their forum is *awful* to use. Slow, unreliable, cumbersome, etc etc. Yuk yuk yuk

Bit like their cars really ;)

WOW, he beat a 911 turbo? That must be a serious car if it can do 0-60 in less than five seconds - next time I see a Saxo with tinted windows, I'll make myself scarce - hold on, I can't keep this up :D :D :D :D what a load of B0LL0CKS!

I don't get these saxo types - they must spend the same amount as we do , but get sh1t little poxy-mobiles and deck them out with their lame body kits and neons etc, instead of having beautiful grand tourers that have performance to match the looks

edited cos I'm really anal about grammar;)

OK, so I was out last night rolling along minding my won business when a LEER JET pulled up next to me.

I looked at the driver, and started reving my pedals, he revved his JET ENGIENS TOO!

I knew it was a race.

We waited for the light to turn green, and I smoked him off the line when I pedaled as hard as I could in my Tyco Tricicle!

I beat him through the first 2 lights, I though he was going to take me, then I hit the NOS. My legs have never MOVED THAT FAST!

My feet are missing now, and my ass is glowing red, but I beeeat HIM!

-=-=-=-=-=

Holy sweet merciful things of big and small. Are we expected to believe a car like THAT could beat a 911 tubo? Did they accidentally port and polish his logistical lobe in his brain cavity?

He tried as hard as he could to cover his sh1t stains I guess.

They usually spend a lot more, especially than S13 owners, S13's cost about half that of a saxo, and are 10 times the car the saxo is. My mate has a VTS (I think, the slow one. Ok the slowER one :D) and it goes round corners well, but he is under no delusions that it is a fast car! Still its always fun shattering thier dreams in a race :D:D

I thought it was refreshing to see that the guy wasn't believed.

Your power to weight is still only 170.98bhp/tonne as opposed to the 911 Turbo's 261bhp/tonnne.

Exactly :D

This is the problem with Saxo/Corsa drivers on the road, though. They believe they can beat anyone, which I suppose is why they do most of their overtaking in built up areas, where the big boys have too much sense to speed

He forgot to mention he had the "baseball cap" mod.
I saw somewhere on the saxo forum that it could add more than 150HP !!!      :D :D

still laughing!!

Hmmm... a 1.6 supercharged Saxo at 15psi.

That would still be slower than an S13 at 15psi then? ;)

'Outbraked' a 911 in a Saxo, I nearly pissed myself! :D

RichSeal
28-08-2002, 12:04
Careful with the breaking thing, Jeremy Clarkson tested a 106 GTi which is virtually the same as the saxo, and the breaking ability was as good as the 911 he had been testing !!!!  Dunno how accurate that test was, but JC dont usually shout about crappy baseball cap machines!

will be faster than my car, im presently at 0.3bar and dropping daily............................o well time to spend some more money lol. ps the saxo must have been going off the edge of a cliff at the time

"it tried to overtake me 3 times but didnt have the power to do it."

Yeah, if only my Saxo had more power than a 911 Turbo! :p

LOL - Apparently owning a 200sx makes you a Skyline wannabe, so owning a Saxo makes you a ......um......er.....dunno, spoilt for choice really as Citroen have made so many class leading cult sports cars in their time haven't they? :D

Think we all really know what owning a Saxo really makes you ;)

Sorry to p*ss on your parade and everything, and please dont start flaming me before you hear me out.

A std saxo weighs about 900kg. Most of the supercharged VTR versions are running approx 160bhp at the wheels, which gives them an enourmous power to weight advantage. Don't know if anyone here reads it, but in CCC magazine a few months back, one of the reporters went to an Evo track day in a s/c VTR (the slower version, 1.6 8v as opposed to VTS 1.6 16v). He reported on comments made by other 'supposed' supercar drivers taking the piss at the beginning of the day, saying that he had obviously turned up on the wrong day, go-karting wasn't allowed, blah blah blah.

He then went out an obliterated most of the field, including a Ferrari 355 - this is not bull, and the 355 owner actually posted on the Evo forum to confirm it - try searching back for the thread if you can be arsed.

so as for the whole Saxo vs 911 thing, it might have happened. Who knows, perhaps the porker driver was being cautious, apparently his girlfriend was in the car - perhaps she was having a go at him to slow down (or is it just mine that does that!!)

Now I used to own one, not supercharged, and yes it was fun, not exactly quick but as a first car it more than did the job. I agree there are some Saxo drivers that think they are it, better and faster than everyone else, but please dont label them all the same. After all, they'll all move on eventually, perhaps to the 200 - and surely you won't be labelling them the same then.

Maybe when they'll want to drive a real car
No, sorry, they will certainly find the 200 tooooooooo slooooow...
After all, even a 911 or a F355 is not fast enough for a saxo :p :p :p :p :p

BigAndy300

that's another Saxo/Carsa favourite - the Flamer kit that is welded to your exhaust and ignites the exhaust fumes.

Safe as houses.

28-08-2002, 14:11
Hang on, was it a manual or an auto Saxo? Lol!

;)

I'm sure 900kg and 250bhp is quite quick for a Saxo, and it may have the straight line speed to match a low spec 911... BUT:

How would it pull away from junctions?

How would it stop with extra weight up front?

How would it out corner a 911, especially on standard suspension!?

How can the little engines take it?

My Westfield is 750kg and 150ish bhp... but it's still slower than my 200 :( Except round corners :)

Power to weight is nothing without suspension, brakes, gearing ratio's and aerodynamics to match.

That includes going to other forums and flaming people - we wouldn't like it, so why should we do it to other forums? If we're going to take the piss, do it on here, not over there.

I know, and I hought of those too - I mean, he's on standard suspension, which whilst it has been claimed to be very good by the motoring press (no, seriously, it has), I can't see it holding off a porker either.

I have a mate who races Minis and they use this technique to get them to oversteer:eek: All they do is just put some rock hard anti-roll bars on the back and they lift a wheel really easily.

Theres no denying that you can get big power out of any engine if you throw enough money at it, shame most people dont think about getting the power down. that guy must resemble a hermit crab fighting the torque steer. I remember standing behind the startline at santa pod while this corrola sr trundled up to the line, myself and a few others laughed and thought he must be brave/stupid. well he duely wiped the smiles of our faces and slapped us around the head with them when he produced a 12.? 1/4:eek: in a fwd and he managed to keep it in a straight line. had he kept traction it would have been sub 12 no probs. I then found out it was fensports project car and the incredible attention to detail to not only make the car powerfull but able to handle the power safley.
Being able to produce big bhp on the rollers means squat unless the guy your trying to beat is sat on some next to you.
I doubt very much bunging on an SC would take him into porche terrotry, theres alot more factors to take into account. And I would tend to err on the side of several million pounds worth of porche reasearch and development than bodge it burt the back street tuner.
Anyway here's fensports corrola sr spec list, pretty damn impressive dont you think.

But after reading into it...... I think we should stop and think.

He claims his Saxo was putting 165BHP at the wheels, when he was running at 5psi boost.

He now claims to be running 15psi boost, so he maybe putting out a little extra.

The Porsche was a Carrera 4. (Not a Turbo, the reg check showed Carrera 4.) The driver sounds like a ****** if he stuck a Turbo badge on the back.

The Carrera 4 is 320 BHP, weighs 1405 kg, has 4WD power loss to contend with, so a Saxo at this spec, could give the porsche a hard time.

But on the other hand, he could be just a Billyliar.

All the same, Kish's comments will only encourage them to come over here and start flaming us.

if a saxo VTR/S (whatever) can have a 911 then my 205 GTi can eat a jag xk8 right ?? :p hehehehe
live in the now saxo boys!
actually , i have to say i was surprised by the amount of guys on their board who said this was a loads of cobblers, must be some good saxo-owners out there somewhere, good on them for owning a bit of a to$$ers car and resisting crossing to the dark-side :)

I've never really understood taking the piss out of Saxo/Nova/205 and whatever other cars u hate, alot of the younger people on this board have come from cars like these which have been modified as well. And like BigAndy said, they have moved on to other cars such as the SX. Live and let live my friends ;) People on here have come up with similar crap such as beating Ninjas etc.
