Well and for those who can be arsed to travel.

I think, when my car works, we should make ourselves known to this lot...

http://www.sw-cc.com/

I've been driving around for the last few months and all the suspect looking motors seem to have www.SW-CC.com stickers in the front window, so I thought I'd investigate.

We need to get to some of their events...

Martin note a RR place, do you know it?

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard.crosland/swcruise/rolling.htm

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard.crosland/swcruise/rolling2.htm

0-60 day, unfotunately no results other than the web blokes 9.17

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard.crosland/swcruise/0-60_1.htm

The club seems to have a couple of nice, on par cars, a Pulsar with ND350, and a 275@wheels R32 GTs-t, no 2hundies though. :(

I guess when modifying, its each to their own and that should be respected, after all what fun would the world be if everyone drove a 200

It's funny isn't it. We never have arguments except amicable ones, never swear at each other (in anger, anyway ;)), but every time I look on a forum with people driving Novas, Corsas, Escorts etc, they're always hurling stuff at each other...

Food for thought? :D

i personnaly agree with you on that comment about the washer jets they are really tacky one of the members cars however came second in the best lite comp in weston this year so there must be something good about extra lights

Only second? I am intrigued, what did the ingenious winner manage to illuminate on his car, in order to beat the lass with the neon washer jets?

EDITED because I was stereotyping ;)

Pete C
08-11-2002, 16:03
Yes, but do funky lights make your car go faster?

Benji
08-11-2002, 16:09
the lights dont make it fast the engine does 1.8 sierra but it aint my car log onto the site and ask the owner for yourself i am sure SHE would be happy to tell you about it, and concidering it was her first comp i think she did well. i cant remeber what the car that came first had done

Pete C
08-11-2002, 16:09
Er, since when was a 1.8 Sierra considered fast By anyone's standards?

Benji
08-11-2002, 16:13
i didnt say it was fast

there was ment to be a comma in there

i own an escort all i can afford at the moment cause i am a student but when i have finished with it, it will be competition standard (show car that is) speed does not interest me.

Weigh up the facts

Speed kills and unless i am mistaken no one has yet been killed by a bodykit or other styling items

Pete C
08-11-2002, 16:16
Ok lets put it into perspective here... how much is it costing you to get your car to 'show standard' if you say an Escort is all you can afford? I'm betting it's enough money to buy something considerably more expensive than an Escort...

Me to :) She obviously had an interest in something and spent time and money on her hobby and got something out of it. Great!

I'm sure she told you guys all about it on your forum.

If people can't post their own opinions on their own forums there is defo something wrong.

Your lads are getting a bit humpty about this thread but on their forum, and I doubt anyone here will be offended or even give a monkeys. As long as they keep their opinions on their own forum :)

Benji
08-11-2002, 16:21
sorry typing to fast all i can afford to insure.

but as i said speed dont interest me at the moment i can get 105 outta my car which is more than i will ever need i would rather keep my driving licence thanks.

plus if you have a car that looks good why would you want to go fast apart from risking crashing the car cause of excesive speed but by the time people have noticed your car you have passed them so there is no point in having a nice looking car if you are gonna blitz it everywhere

Yea...the ppl on sites with Novas, Corsas and Escorts do tend to slag each other off, coz they like to think their particular car is better than others...

...you are doing the same thing by pointing that out!

Anyhoo...everyone's welcome to any of the rolling road or track days which we have planned...a few 200's did actually turn up for our last rr day and drew quite a crowd ;) This one for example, from Ambience --> http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard.crosland/swcruise/events/2002/trax2002/images/200sx.jpg (Pic taken at Trax2002)

The site is'nt really make specific, its a club for South Wales at the end of the day.

If anyone does want a pic of their 200 on the site then all you have to do is email it to myself and I will add it to the cars page pan@sw-cc.com as I update that page ppl have been quick to slate! ...There are a few powerful cars on there too mind!

i dont believe that my car is or ratehr my make of car is better than anyone elses cause at the end of the day every car is differant like someone said how boring would the world be if everyone drove a 200 i am not keen on saxos but that is my personnal choice there are alot of people on the site who do the same with novas and alot of both novas and saxos on the site are nice looking and some have outstanding performance

Well i belive that my car is better than some other peoples. It's all relative though.
A ferrari is better than a Lada, tis obvious.
A 200 SX is better than a 1.6 escort. Corse it is:eek: Otherwise, why would an S13 cost £20k new, and an escort £8k new ????

However.......

It's all down to personal preferance.
I dont see the point it huge body kits and spoilers, and stick on twin headlamp conversions etc because to me the owners are trying to make them look like a better car, so they couldn't have been that good to look at in the first place!!!

Most of them have loadsa dosh chucked at them, when the money could have been spent buying some thing amazing in the first place:cool:

Of course, all IMHO

hey lets not go insulting people, if they like nova's and escorts then let them be, the south wales comedy club :) oops i mean car club are entitled to there own taste in 4 wheeled transport and are also entitled to blow the equivilent of a small mortgage on modifying there supermini's to make them even less areodynamic and have wheels that are so big they cant take a corner at more than 5 miles an hour, but will get a 16 year old girls knickers wet at 200 yards and god knows how many times i have needed to locate my washer jets in thick fog and have wished i had fitted neon ones!!!! :) :) andmy apologies for any offence but its nice to wind people up once in a while we are too polite sometimes, its only fun!!! all he has to say in reply to our comments is that we drive wannabe PROBES!!

this is the only pic i could find that shows the washer jets on my car DO THEY LOOK LIKE NEON WASHER JETS TO YOU

and if you want to get insulting in my personnal opinion all nissan 200's are common you see them all over the place just like novas corsas and escorts

when you have something that is rare, looks good and has perfromance to compliment it being a high perfromance car then i will shut up.

But the thing about modifiying a car it could be a scooby or a fiesta 1.1 if its differant then it is special, which is the point of modifiying a car to make it something that no one else has. You maybe able to pull sub 15secs on the 1/4 mile track but so can every other bloody 200 but if i can make my escort look totally differant to everyother escort then it will be special

aka-coley
08-11-2002, 17:45
you need to chill out benji its the weekend, relax, go for a drive. the reason you are getting insulting replies is because you are biting to them and it makes it more fun to wind someone up! i seriously have no problem with anybody who mods cars, got mates who are mad on it and spend literally 8-9 grand without having touched the engine, i might think they are mad but its there hobby and it makes them happy so fair play better than blowing all that money on drugs or booze! i think people on here jus tget pissed off with kids in corsa's nova's and alike who think they are in fast and furious and try to race at every traffic light, but we are all entitled to our own opinion and have our own likes and dislikes

Benji
08-11-2002, 17:47
i dont think i am fast and furious as you put i know my car aint very fast that is why i am doing it up for shows and competitions so dont wind me up i havent do anything to you and have never met you.

aka-coley
08-11-2002, 17:47
and that bit about seing as many 200sx on the road as escorts and corsa's is ********! most s13's have been eaten up by the rust bug by now or got friendly with lamposts and other objects :) :)

It's nice to see you have taken an intrest in our site guys and hope that it will be of some help to you in the quest for more fun.

Benji m8 take a chill pill and relax they are only having a go because you are biting at everything they say lol take it easy m8.

The ultimate event in my eyes is the 1/4 mile days we attend and run this is the best way to see what your car can really do guys. BHP aint everything belive me LOL you have to beable to beat the team NOVA yep NOVA before you can realy have a go, and belive me i dont think anyone has much of a chance.
I dont own one myself but dont bear any grudges against the nova drivers either well exept this one lol it is only because it is pulling 1/4 mile times that are quicker than a lambo that i have issues with it oh and it has been up against one and one lol with a time of 13.774.

I have just come back from the last event we attended in stratford last weekend and did quite well in my little 206 the vid is on our site under download's if anyone is intrested managed to beat an FTO and lost to a 300zx by 0.527 of a second mine is only a 1600 8v but think she did well lol next time i will fill the NOS bottle up and there will be no problems then heheh.

But sereously now guys if you wish to attend any event's we hold juist email myself or any of the mod's on the site and we will be more than happy to extend our welcome to you.

Chill out lads

Some like rice, some don't..........

In reply to one of their posts though:

They dont realise that 'we' as drivers of Novas, Corsas, and Escorts may be Students...have limited budgets, and have girlfriends who are expensive to run, morgages and poorly paid jobs...

Life to them is but a daydream where they get up in the morning to go to their highly paid management job, where a turn of the key in the ignition does not equate to a furrowed brow of sweat while praying the god damn thing will start of a cold November Morn and that timing the car to 60 does not involve the use of turning pages of a calendar...

...Yea...we could all drive 200SX's if we wanted

Mmmmmm........Take a look at posts in the pasts, many people (including myself) are picking these up quite cheap, and spending whatever we can afford to make them perform, and look as best as possible. My car does start everytime mind you, but I have to pray the thing won't overheat on me

Any hows there are some verry tasty cars on your site and am glad to see that some of you are restoring the older models to there former glory even if that does mean regular replacment's of the intake manifold gasket's hehe(sorry had to)

Dont forget though the site South Wales Car Club is not predgadist in any way and dosent prefer one to the other. So if any of you cant be arsed or don't have the time to organise an event that we are holding then PLEASE do attend it is alway's nice to see the jap metal on the rollers, and they sound mint to plus it might keep some of our 200+ boys on there toes if you know what i mean ;)

My apologies guys, as was said on our boards regarding this same thread "some of the peeps on our board get a bit defensive when they're car is "questioned" "

I personally don't care what people say about my Lump of Antiquated French **** box..... but I do love my 205 ;)

I agree with alot of you with regards to these 1.1 - 1.4 Boys Toys that have huge body kits but nothing under the bonnet (but each to thier own, Insurence puts its boot into some more than others)

Again, I am all for a bit of banter between car lovers but what some people have to remember is that when you are communicating via a forum such as this you can not tell if someone is taking the micky or not (facial expressions are difficult to express via the web) as the guys from SW-CC know all to well from some previous experiences.....

but all that aside it is good to see that other sites and web users are coming across our little bit of the World Wide Web....

lol a quality flame war I must say. My name is Beef and I run SW-CC.com.

Can I just say that our local N20 supplier is called http://www.nitrousoxideshop.com (NOS) so Nick is correct.

It might interest you to know, that SW-CC's new project car is actually going to be a s14 200sx, which Phill will be starting very soon, I'm sure he will appreciate your help when the time comes.

At our last RR day, Ambience tuning sent 2 of their best s13 SXs, which were impressive under the weather conditions 37 degrees celcius in the garage! They pulled 207 and 247 atw respectively.

K reg s13 SXs are now going for £1000 or even less around here, which means that they are becoming more and more common, I did consider one myself for my next car, but after seeing a few at Stratford raceway, I decided against it, because a 300bhp s14 only just managed to break the 14 second barrier, when Ades £2k Nova is consistently running 13.7s. I see 1/4 mile as the true measure of a cars performance - bhp is worthless.

My current car has a turbo'd japanese lump - ok well actually its a Cavalier with a 1.7 Isuzu TD lump

I also own a 2.0 Nova, which I will probably keep, but I'll soon be 25 with full ncb and with that Mr Insurance no longer becomes the thorn in my side (due to where I live) and a new car is on the horizon.

I have decided on a Pulsar for the time being, but I do like the 200sx and haven't ruled it out for the future. I refuse to own a Scooby.

Our site caters for all walks of life, and you have to realise that not everyone has money, and Insurance limits most youngsters these days to nothing more than a 1.2. So I think its understandable that they go for cosmetic mods rather than power cos quite simply their hands are tied.

Other members of our site would blitz you guys, I don't say that in a nasty way its just fact. We have everything from a 13second Novas, a soon to be 450bhp Pulsar and an 11 second Evo V.

I would be interested to know what 1/4 your cars are making?

Our next RR day is the 30th November at Willfield Motors Abercynnon. As I said, the best 200sx we've had was 247atw in the heat, so I'd estimate it at 300+ atf under normal conditions.

I'm not asking you to put your money where your mouth is, everyone is welcome to the event, its £10 a run with a print out - however if we don't see an appearance from the SXOC, then questions will be asked :)

Papa Lazarou
09-11-2002, 17:21
Maybe if I can get the damn car set up right before then.... Due to have the head ripped off to have some work done on it. Interesting to see what the new Greddy turbo will be able to push out :)

A mate of mine went to one of your RR days, and said it was cool. My concern would be the high temps though, I don't wanna risk blowing anything up due to detting. He said the fans there were a bit poxy and someones Rover turbo overheated and spewed its coolant over the rollers or summat.

Dai
09-11-2002, 17:29

Hey beef, where are these cars you mention in your post???
Cheapest place for cars is the Adtader, and G plates rarely are to be had for less than £1 k

Would like to know where ot get 'em cheaper though

beef@sw-cc.com
09-11-2002, 17:31
It was a ridiculously hot day back in July, almost unbearable in the garage where inatake temperatures touched 40 degrees!

All the turbo boys lost a lot of power understandably, but the Rover had been leaking coolant for weeks :)

Nobodies car suffered any problems then, so I'm sure a freezing cold misty day in November won't be a problem :)

Can I just ask if there are any SXOC members here who live in South Wales?

Jezz_S13
09-11-2002, 17:32
Yeah I might pop along. :) Dai, Carnut, Martin... shall we?

How often do you run them? Just rebuilt my engine and am running in at the minute so it won't have the big pile of goodies bolted on and remapped for a couple of months yet, the T34 & mongoose might be on, I expect/hope for 300+ at wheels when it's done, unless the manifold does hold it back, then I'll need more money, and more time to get to where I wanna go. Ultimately aiming for 350-380 flywheel.

Ambience only got 247, could be the air temp though I suppose?
Do you have their specs?

Last time I RR'd I got 217.8@wheels with just 13.5psi, a fair bit has changed since then. :)

we've got a couple of s14's in the 12's don't think they are 'that' much over 300 if at all, could be wrong though, and deffo a 13.21 S13, (not sure if that's been beaten, if not it soon will be I think as there are about 10 350-400 cars about to be finished)
Richie has Norris' old 550bhp S13, shame he lives 300+ miles away.

My word this thread took off a bit dinnit. :)

I have been looking in Adtrader cos I'm buying a new car... there was a J plater for £900 the week before last, theres a K plater this week for £1450. Try a proper auction like Newport. Theres a small amount of risk when buying turbos, but if you check the oil and water for problems then you can't go that wrong, and if theres a serious problem you can get your money back.

Can I just ask if there are any SXOC members here who live in South Wales? [/B]Yeah, if you look under Location, you will be able to see for yourself!!! ;) ;) ;)

I saw Norris's old s13 up in Powerstaion about 18 months back, very nice.

247 atw was very respectable on the day, as there was also a Cossie which reached 300atw in the winter, which only managed 220 in the heat.

Pop a long anyway, we had 50 cars on the rollers last time and its a good larf. I believe we are meeting at M4 J32 Asdas/Mcd's at 9am

err...beef....the most powerful 200sx on the day was the red one (picture posted by pan further back in this thread) it had 207bhp at the wheels, 257bhp at the fly. the guys name was howard.

the other 200sx pulled near standard power. i don't think the guy had mod'd it yet.

i've got the result sheets next to me!!! :p

i had goose bumps when the red 1 was on the rollers!!!!! sounded so mint!!! and it beat the 2 cossies that turned up :D

bring some more 200sx's to our next RR day on the 30th nov.

Sorry Jezz, we hold them every 3 months so people can benchmark their mods one at a time for only £10 a run.

We'll be running a photoshoot at the same time for the site if your interested, It would be nice to see some 200sx on there.

looks like I missed this one:rolleyes: glad to see were all talking again though. Just a good job they didnt look in the tech section as they would have had loads of ammo ;)
The only comment I would like to speak on was being stereotyped as some type of hoorah henrey with tons of dosh and a house in the country. well Im skint !!! thanks to this car:rolleyes: Im not called rupert or tarquin, I've worked hard all my life, drink like a fish, staple diet of engine oil and kebabs (well it used to be, the car works now :) ) but then again Thanks for thinking that the car is worth more than it actualy is and Im intelligent enough to be your bank manager :D

I dont actualy care what people drive and generaly dont comment unless on a positive note. except if I see something so bad it cant go without comment, ie a nova I saw yesterday with more wings than the RAF and a bodykit that was falling off:eek: but Im sure if you guys had seen it you would have shared my opinion.

Hey Beef, what's happened to your board? Tis dead. :(

Yeah, I go along with nath, skint deffo, me hooray henry? No. LOL. That'll be the S14 lot. :D:D:D:D:D

If you can get a s13 for 1k, I reckon you can turn it into 350 ish with suspension upgrade to match for another 4kish roughly totting up my bits and bobs. As long as you do all the work your self and/or have mates that can help, and know where to get your bits from. Oh and you have a very tollerant, helpful, engine lifting, spanner passing, boring stuff doing... girlfriend. :)

I appreciate insurance is an issue for the kiddies, but doesn't all the stick on extra weight stuff whack the surance for the corsa's etc?
I'm 29 not really a liability and it's still close to a grand. :(

Hi, i also play a big part in the sw-cc site. We have had a bit of a problem with bitchin' from our memebers and other member of several sites but hopefully we can put this behind us and get along.

I will be buying an s14 in the very near future as I have been doing a bit of research as in what to have for my next car and the 200sx seems to cover it all.

200 bhp, rear wheel drive, lsd, all the toyz, and the last of the s14's with the face lift look the business. Also i've read somewhere that the manual box's can withstand upto 600bhp (unlike the sunny's etc) is this true??

So I will be pestering you all for advice on tuning bit's and pieces cos if you guy's know what works then it could save me money in the long run!!!

I've been looking at a few that have a little bit of accident damage on them as they seem to be about half the price. Saw one with a place called Rally Tec the other day - T reg, red, 48k, touring pack, light front end damage - £3500.

would you know where the best place for me to go to buy parts to repair it?? Do you know of a nice front bumper for the s14 that would take a front mounted intercooler??

Hope you will reply lads as I really want one of these cars expecially when work pay my milage at 35p a mile it should more than cover the fuel costs!!!!

Chris

secondhand body parts can be hard to find , when a 200 gets crashed its usually serious !

Phill
10-11-2002, 10:34
Yeah the last one i actually went to see was an S reg one in red with 22k on the clock!! Down side was she had been spun into the armco or something cos the bumper and headlight were missing (that didn't bother me much) but it had damaged the passenger door and hit the rear wings in so the boot wouldn't shut, plus she was an auto!! - but she sold for £900!! Cheap car just for whats left to break it.

p.s has anyone ever had to buy things like headlights brand new - or do they do any nice aftermarket headlights??

Hi everybody on the site, now we arefinally getting along!:)
First things first, i havnt registered here just to bitch, it doesnt benefit anybody, and arent we all interested in the same thing anyway, modifying, and id just like to say, ive always been a fan of the s14,s, they are a very underrated car that deserves respect.
from the outset, I own a Nova SR. I know that this statement instantly paints an image of a rusting **** box being driven by your stereotypical boy racer, admittedly, im not the best driver in the world, but id like to say that im as sensible as the next person.
I bought this car because its cheap. pure and simple. I cant afford much else as im a 21 year old student, but Id like to think that what ive done to my car makes it exactky that, MY car. I can relate to my car as my pride and joy, as im sure a lot of you guys do, cos a lot of time and money has gone into making them that little bit different.
I know some people have an born hatred of the baby vauxhall, but its an individual thing, I love 'em!
If you look at the tech spec for my car, you'll see that we not to far apart, the mods on my car are just on a less technical and grand scale, ive got a performance exhaust, race cams, uprated brakes and lowered and stiffened suspension.
Hope to see some of you guys at the RR day, cos the 200sx's have a point to prove!!:D
