My brother used to do some work for a car dealership that sold a 1996 BMW M3 convertible, together with warranty, to a young driver.
He destroyed a brand new set of brake pads within 6000 miles.
A couple of months later the car blew a con rod through the side of the block! Investigation of the car also found that it had been thrashed so hard that the clutch plate had turned blue!
This perhaps says something about his driving style.
The best part is that the warranty does not cover the cost of replacing the engine as it was deemed the the car had been generally abused.
BMW have quoted for replacement of the engine-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(wait for it)-------------------------------------------------------------------

Bargain - think I might drop one into the S13 :rolleyes: BMW are taking the p1ss aren't they??

Surely an M3 is designed to be thrashed? If I was the owner I'd have a word or 2 to say about it conking out so quickly no matter how hard I'd driven it :mad:

Also if it was second hand (assuming as it's a 1996 model) then surely the previous owner could well have caused much of the initial damage, meaning the warrenty should remain valid??

I know how much an M5 engine is, but I won't write it here cos it hurts to hear it.

Hurts the warranty coverers even more though cos a whole load of M5's blew their engines when the car first came out!
