Newport Locals - Optimax Watch!

I was lucky enough to stumble across one of the few remaining supplies of Optimax in the country today whilst in Newport.
The Shell garage at the bottom of Chepstow Road just over the bridge from town centre was polite enough to relieve me of £50 for a full tank today, and it appears that they have plenty left according to the cashier... 91.9p is pretty damned cheap too!

Both seem fine in the car and are chaper lol

You dont have to put optimax in as the ron is still only 97 as is normal sul :)

How about Sainsburys Super Unleaded ? that ok, considering where they get there Fuel from ?

I drove back from Anglesey to Birmingham today and filled up with Optimax on the A5 a mile or so after Betws-y-coed. It was 92.9 IIRC.

You dont have to put optimax in as the ron is still only 97 as is normal sul :)
Optimax is specced at 98.6RON and marketed as "over 98RON", which is the reason that many modified turbo owners consider it the only pump fuel of choice. I know that my car runs far better on Opticrap than the next best thing; BP's Ultimate which is only 97RON.

How about Sainsburys Super Unleaded ? that ok, considering where they get there Fuel from ?

Whats the deal with Optimax then? Is it being pulled off the market or sommat? I noticed the other day at a Shell garage that all the optimax pumps were off, but just took it as a one off that they had run out, not that they weren't ever going to sell it anymore.... Did I miss something???

I believe it is that most of the optimax went up in the hemel hempstead bbq!
But i could be wrong:D

Shell have diverted a load of their Optimax supply chain logistics away to replenish their stocks of Aviation fuels which went up in Hemel.
Optimax is produced/refined up in Merseyside somewhere...
