Can you fit 6x9 in the rear with a pod of some description? Sounds possible with a bit of handy work, as always! I am getting a little tired of having no boot space with the sub and amp etc so might get rid and have a decent set of speakers in the rear.

whats the deal then people, will it fit? What other options have I got?

cheers in advance

6x9's can be fitted to the S14a rear shelf, with a bit of work. Did it with mine a little while ago.

Easiest way (or the way I did it anyway) was to take the shelf out (just unclips) then make a cardboard template of the recess in the shelf. Then copy that onto some 18mm MDF and cut it out with a jig saw. If you bevel the edges at 45 it fits nicely. Need to bevel the front edge backwards, and the rear edges under (lost yet?)

Cut out the 6x9 holes in the same place as the standard ones, then cover in some material and screw to the standard shelf using same holes as the standard speakers use. (Hope I'm not stating the obvious here).

Screw the 6x9's in (may need to cut the standard shelf a little to match the 6x9 holes) and refit. Bit fidly to get the connectors on.

I'm well impressed with mine. Looks good!

I have 6X9 's in mine and it took 20 mins to fit, and still looks standard.

The solution is....

I have the speakers mounted in some mdf (1" i think) and this neatly slots under the metal part of the parcel shelf and is then screwed through from the top (only the metal part).

It looks totaly standard.

Note: This work of genius was generate by Richie and aquired by me.
