Anyone else going?

That's pretty cheap, I'll give that some consideration :)
Just phoned them a minute a go!
The noise limit is 105 dB which I know is pretty loud, but it's the drive-by limit. Any ideas if I'll be Ok with a Blitz Nur Spec and full decat?
Not 100% certain, but I think you'll need the bung in :(
I'm taking mine, just in case...

I see from your spec that your Zorst is similar to mine, do you know if you will pass the noise levels or just taking a guess? Nice spec BTW:D
Don't know. I've hired a dB meter from bookatrack, but don't know how to do a drive-by test ...
Thanks :) I'm really happy with the spec. Just come back from a lunchtime drive... still grinning :D

I'll be there to watch I suspect :)

I know the static tests are tested in a set way, don't know about the drive by tests though. I *think* they just have a meter by the track somewhere and then black flag you if you are too loud.
This is what put me off doing trackdays before, I don't know if I'll pass the noise limit, plus you don't get a refund if you fail. WTF are you supposed to do? Noise tests also vary depending on the wind strength and direction plus the area it's tested in, so just because you passed once doesn't mean you will pass again:rant:
I might just take the chance seeing as it's so cheap....
Just spoke to them and they said they'd be very very supprised if you even needed a bung
An F40 with a competition exhaust passes the drive-by (They said it was very loud!). The drive-by is a marshal with a meter at the side of the track 40ft away.
I think we'll be fine :)

Top Man:thumbs: Off to book it now, I'll see you there (assuming there are still places left):D :D

Hello all,
Just to clarify things about noise limits..
Our drive by limit is 105db. This is measured at a distance of 40m from the track.
The F40 that giblets is talking of had a drive by figure of 117db..way over our noise limits.
If you exceed the drive by limit then there is a static test which goes as follows: 105dB(A) measured statically at 0.5metres and 45deg angle, at ¾ maximum rpm.
I know this all sounds very complicated and it is very hard to know whether or not your car will pass but we are forced to comply on these regulations by the council, it is not the circuits decision. To avoid dissapointment on the day, get yourself booked in for a noise test. If you have a bung for your exhaust then bring it with you just in case!
I hope this helps.. look forward to seeing those of you who are booked in.
Happy Christmas
Alex
Thanks for clearing that up Alex, looks like I totally misunderstood what you said about the F40
Hi Alex, just wondered what you class as a novice? I've done two trackdays, at Snet and Brands, but neither of them in my current car.
Do I qualify as a novice or is this day for first-timers only?
Oh yes and if I'm OK to book, can I pop down before the 29th for a noise check before splashing my cash?
Cheers,
looks like rain on Friday:(
May come along and watch:)
Does anyone know if Brands has had snow?
Should be able to come down and watch:thumbs:
What a top day:thumbs: Nice to see Ant and Dan there as well. I was a bit dubious about the weather but Brands had swept the track and it was just a little wet by the time we got on it. Had some tuition from Wil Arif who was great, he managed to get my top speed up by 20mph:D Paddock Hill bend is awesome when you get it right, like being on a roller coaster. Had a couple of scary moments, but the best bit was pulling back into the pits to drop the instructor off and everyone pointing at my brakes which appeared to be on fire:eek: Had to go out for a cool down lap, and they were still smoking after:eek:
What a billy bargain for £114.

Yep, a great day. Thanks for the rides guys.
Considering how cold it was there was far more grip than I had imagined.
Had a fantastic last outing with Anthony, you get a real buzz even as a passenger when you feel you've improved in each section.
Got a few pics to sort out too.

Yep, it was a great day. Some nice very nice "toys" there too. R34, Viper, 996 turbo, M3...
The track tuition was worth every penny and really made me feel like I got the most of the day. I can't believe I spanked 3/4 tank of petrol in about an hours worth of track time!
Nice to meet you Nick and thanks Dan for your quality co-pilot skills! and also keeping an eye on the temps and knock levels and not flinching when it got a little quirmy on the straights :D Sorry for the extended passenger ride, but I was having too much fun to pull into the pits!
If anyone's thinking about booking their first trackday, I can highly recommend it. The organisation was excellent and it wasn't too busy on the track.
