Please add your name and preference of circuit to the list if you would like to attend an exclusive SXOC track day in 2006. This would mean only 200sx's on circuit!
Thanks
Alex

am I missing something here?
You might want to approach out Trade Rep, Nismo Mark, as advertising is regulated here.

Sorry, I should have explained myself a little better..
I have spoken with Ben Taylor of SXOC and we hope to be able to put on a track event exclusively for the members of SXOC - depending on interest.
I understand that previously you have organised days in association with the Fiat Coupe Club but something that I mentioned to Ben would be organising an exclusive evening event this summer, possibly at Brands Hatch.
So if anyone is interested please can they add there names to this post and we can go from there.
Sorry if I have caused any confusion. Many thanks

yes i'm up for a discounted track day
Any track is good
Brands for me
And me
Nah Thruxton, fastest circuit in the country. (Plus its only 45 minutes drve from me ;) )
I'm interested  no preference of track
Cadwell or oulton would be my choice but i can travel.
not sure an exclusive sxoc thing is viable tbh. judging by previous efforts you're not going to get 40-50 takers for any one day, and i can't help thinking that'll make it financially out of reach for most:( .
shouldn't this thread be in motorsport btw;)

I'd be interested in Brands or Bedford

Yep, more than likely :)
Also very interested, but as with many here will depend on many factors.
Price, location, time of year etc.
South East track for me.
:)
Brands or Bedford for me. Presumably Bedford might be more financially viable, since there is a choice of a few 'sub-tracks'?
Brands please:thumbs:
:MODS: wouldn't a poll be ideal for this?
Alg:D
Brands is cool :)
Can you get sessions at any of these: Goodwood, Silverstone, Castle Combe or Thruxton?
I'm up for this.
Preferably Oulton but suppose Brands would do ;)
Also interested in Brands:wave:
I think you should speak to SM whos the moderator of the Motorsport sectiona and is responsible for organising these events :)
All fine by me
However brands is THE most expensive track in the country, and as a club we struggle to get 25 people to one trackday. 50 say they want it, 35 say they'll pay, 30 pay, and 25 turn up.
I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong on this  and trackday intrest has grown over the last coupel of years, however I dont think enough intrest could be mustered for a 200-only trackday, however nice it seems  especially at Brands when you ask people for £250 minimum.
I'll get this moved to motorsport
Brands or Thruxton
Prices?

bedford or i could go with the rest and say brands! price and a date would be good though.
Brands is cool with me,as has been mentioned already its gonna be pricey.
I'd be interested in Goodwood or Thruxton as well.
All this depends on what time of year this is all planned for.
Attention!!
Please note non-members will have a £15 surcharge if this event happens. You will get free membership to the club.
EDIT
You can still turn up as a non-member, however members will get 10% discount, its just better to join.

LOL, that made me laugh for some reason :wack:
Brands or Bedford - very interested, but i have no idea how much it would cost, and have a feeling that with the cost of the day, tyres, and brakes, it might be out of my league... :(
Brands or a south east track.
Anywhere around the midlands would surely be better for an sxoc trackday, since the likes of brands is a long way from us northeners and Knockhill would be too far for you southerners would somewhere in the middle generate more interest? Also £250 quid for your entrance + petrol + accomodation + other miscelanious items of wear and tear on the motor, its gonna be very pricey maybe even more than a weekend to the nurburgring. Theres no way i would be able to even consider the idea of going on the sxoc euro trip plus a exclusive 200 day at brands:no: not unless they were the only track sessions i was doing this year and personally i'd rather have 3 trackdays than have 1experience of just racing against 200's. apart from anything else its good pitting your skills against other cars:nod:

Since most club track days are organised for northern tracks, i think its about time us southerners had a chance, without having to drive for hours or arrange accommodation, there seems to be quite a lot of interest in Brands, at least until we get a price:rolleyes: ;)
in fact i think this may be the first possible southern track day proposed?

Agree with Tricky 100%. Most trackdays seem to be 'up north'. It would be nice to see one down this way for a change. Brands GP is a great circuit, well worth the premium they charge for it.

 you Southern nancy boys have a bit of an inferiority complex don't you:p . the only official SXOC track stuff in the past has been Trax and Japfest. and you've had Haynes etc
TBH it'd have to be quite an attractive package to get me to Brands, and i can't help thinking that we'll be offered a weekday evening on the Indy circuit which wouldn't float my boat at all:no: . hopefully Mr MSV will come back to us with a good offer.
Would likely be up for this. But the £250 would have to be for the full size circuit. May not be interested in one of the half circuits.

I might be reading this wrong, but I thought that MSV only did track days for Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome...
I'd be up for Brands.

I'm up for anywhere without any noise limitations.
Thats another good reason to go for Brands. Their noise limit is 105db but going by the trackday I did in July they seem to be fairly lenient.
Whata bout castle coombe? Its pretty damn central to everyone isnt it?
Ha Ha Ha - Central my hairy arse, the most central for SXOC would be silverstone or Donnington, and even then thats pushing it and making the Scot's travel further. Even 3 Sisters at Manchester is south of the centre if you think about it. If you make a 2D map of England/Scotland/Wales, then try and balance it at a single point on a pin, that pin would be the trough of Bowland, 15miles NW of me and 15miles NE of Vez.
We also have a national SXOC trackday at Castle Coombe - Japfest.
Japfest is only two or three sessions though. We are talking about a day.
I agree, central is around Manchester. However, Manchester is still a long way if you live in Cornwall or Scotland, but on other people's doorsteps.
I tend to think there needs to be more than one event, or at least move it around.
SXOC track day or not, I wouldn't go to it up north as it would all be too expensive. That's my choice though...
Goodwood, Castle Combe & Brands would interest me
Damn Southerners  ;) I'd suggest Oulton or Donington as top-notch circuits that are still central to a lot of people.
I'm with Bob here - even with a discount, I can't imagine us getting a fantastic deal for Brands Hatch. I'll wait before judging, but SXOC members can already get a small discount from one certain other trackday company, and I can get money off trackdays through Lotus on Track - he'd have to go some to beat either of these, especially considering the reduced numbers an SXOC-only event would bring.
I tend to think there needs to be more than one event, or at least move it around.
Yep I agree, some people will travel though. I've been every year to Castle Coombe, which is further than if the London Bristol went to Donnington, and I also went to Richie's TSC which was even further.
We need a few groups of people in various corners of the country to run some events, get people addicted and then there would be more interest for a genuine national club trackday.
Yep. Full marks to you, Kev. You put a lot of time, effort and money into your track events. I'm sure a lot of other do too.
However, the majority of people who are going to stump up the amount required for a full track day aren't going to want to travel as far.
I personally wouldn't because it would be another cost on top of the fee and track day insurance (which is probably as much as the fee for the S15). I'm not that dedicated, and I could afford it. Many others couldn't....
I expect a full trackday at Brands will cost £250 at least....
If you add in fuel at £50-£90 for the trackday itself.
Half a set of brakepads £50
1/3rd of a set of tyres at least - £100
Doesnt really matter if you add in £20 or £80 in fuel to get to the track, or if you spend £40 on a BB.
You could save £100 on the entry-fee and book the Day at Donnington, or Oulton and you are likely to get more people, more central to more people, and therefore more likely to fill a day.
That aside, I would come to a trackday at Brands, and I'm sure some of the other northerners would too...I doubt there would be enough for a SX-only day, maybe a SX-only session on a sessioned day.... but I'm not paying £300 even for the GP circuit open-pitlane its just too much. If it can be £200 for the Indy I'll be there :D
200 quid for the indy circuit is above the going rate it is normally about 180.
I paid 280 for the gp circuit and that was an awesome day.
Stu, don't be put off the indy circuit as it is excellent for the 200sx. I did one in my 200 and she was keeping up with huge power skylines round there just because they couldn't stretch their legs. and the sx corners so well ;)
I'd also be up for bedford, but it would be nice to see a day that didn't involve a long drive to get there...

Reading the other thread "brands hatch for newbies" organised by the same guy I was expecting the cost of this to be around £100, however that was a 1/2 day and this is a full day by the looks of it
Is it a good idea to go through a third party or are we just pushing the price up for ourselves. Surely circuits employ their own trusted marshalls etc so the organising company just pays up and rolls up - can't we do that ourselves?
Other ideas, if location north / south / east / west is a problem we could have more than one. I'd also like to see split graded sessions as there are so many 1st timers and non members showing an interest - no offense but some of the driving at Japfest was a little

Brands GP is the only one I would consider, indy gets boring after half an hour. :). :D
Only problem i see with brands is, as mentioned, the run-off aren't huge are they. I've heard bedford is good for this? if there are going to be a lot of n00bs (me included) might it be an idea to consider this?

Brands good noise levels but bad run off

that's my point - are we looking at something for newbies or something for the more experienced peeps?
Might there be trouble catering for both? if newbies are being taken into account (which i would be grateful if they were :) not just for myself, but there seem to be quite a few trackday virgins who fancy giving it a go, and i for one would see and SXOC only trackday as a good, friendly, place to start, without the pressure of an open track day :) ) then might it be good to consider somewhere that's a good place to go for all of us who haven't yet popped our trackday cherry? i.e. lots of run-oof (which i beleive Beford is very good for, although i understand their noise limits are somewhat restrictive)
:) Si

Definately agree
Need something cheap, fun and reasonably regular to get people hooked (ala Haynes day - £40 for the day which included lunch, very small track but still good fun) in each part of the country.
Haynes can easily be organised again but what about poeple in the SE/Midlands/Wales etc.

I'm up for Brands hatch:)
no need to fear brands hatch fellas.
as long as you build up your speed rather than trying to keep up with everyone then no one will get hurt.
Brands is a nice flowing circuit and if you drive in your own limits it will be fine.
I have seen some serious damage at bedford so don't think you can get away with it just because there is run off.
when ability is out weighed by physics there will be tears whatever track you are on.
having done a few track days I would probably never do an airfield day again, they wreck your tyres, front valance, anr bonnet from all the small stones and the rough surface.
a proper track is lightyears ahead of an airfield day, Bedford is a proper circuit as far as I am concerned as the surface is prepped like a race track.
Brands hatch is a cool circuit and as long as you drive safely then it is excellent if a little daunting..
/Steve
I'd be up for Brands depending on cost, agreed on the track thing, doin't mind knackering tyres when I'm drifting and expecting it, airfields are a nightmare!

i would be up for this but i still havnt done my first trackday yet although i may have by the time this comes around.
i dont know if its possible but if everyone is serious in organising an sxoc trackday then it needs to be appealing to everyone (easier said than done i know) it needs to be
a) central
b) have a fairly high noise limit
c) have a fairly decent amount of runoff for the noobs like myself
d) financially viable, most people here work hard for there money and dont have loads to splash around on trackdays especially us s13 owners who spend loads on repairs
e) an interesting / challenging circuit so the more experienced arent bored after a few laps of the track.
so taking all of that into account i have no idea which track fits the bill but i will endevour to be there

Its awesome to find out just how far you can push a 200  I was really suprised at how neutral they are at the limit, excellent fun
It near-enough impossible to make everyone happy.
I'm hoping that its better to have a few regional trackdays, all trackdays that are booked/pending are in the "trackday diary" sticky. With details of confirmed or planned trackdays.
Theres a
Southern (Easter tuesday eve @ Brands 18th April)
and
Northern (Easter Monday @ Donnington 17th April) both pending confirmation already for 2006.
As well as the Northerners Winter trackday @ Elvington 4th Feb.
The "Euro Roadtrip" consisting of Spa and Nurburgring, for late August, and the usual May(??) Castle Coombe (Bristol) Japfest trackday "taster" with a coupel of sessions to ease the newbees in, and have 20-odd 200's on track at the same time  Similar thing for ChaX, I meant TraX in September @ Silverstone.
I'm guessing from past years there will be at least 1 trip to Haynes
And I'm hoping to include Snetterton on the Bi-monthly Schedule I'm planning at least for myself. Oulton park will make an appearance I'm sure and I'll bet money Jez will spend at least 1 day at Goodwood ;)
Anal? Moi? I just love it, and I'm sure anybody who tries it will want more. :D
You like it too ;) Beats trackdaying without any 200's on the same day for sure :D
Have you booked anything yet? Im really looking forward to next year, its going to be cool  :D

Spa is only August, and a good time for the roadtrip (2 weeks booked off work already)

Oh and FCCUK have mentioned this ...
Castle Coombe, midweek trackday.
Friday 21 April or Wednesday 17 May
£165 when booked direct with the circuit, but they offer a discount for 11 people booking together, which reduces the price to £150. Tuition, in with the price .
Not sure about additional drivers or passengers, but I have a feeling that they might be included as well (I can check with them if this is of interest to people?)
http://www.fccuk.org/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=9788&Main=9544#Post9788
Bren, will you be on track with the S13 or S14? Lost track of your plans these days.
Kev: interested in the FCC day :)
I will be interested in the castle combe day..... I love that track
Probably leaving elvington due to needing spare wheels etc, but will be doing most of the other plus some sprinting and hill climbs :D
As I'm still confined to my bed after a week, it looks like my back is going to take a while to get better, which means I am likely to lose at least a couple of grand of self employed earnings so stuff like spare wheels and tyres for airfield days will have to wait :(
But next year is going to be superb :D :D
God, i cant wait till i can drive again  At least the wife has been enjoying my car... full boost with aggresive spool, whats not to like in this weather :wack:
The S13 is pretty much done and is what we be using for the first quarter of next year.
In the mean time we are putting our black s14a back together with the Tomei engine etc. Im hoping it will be being run in early Feb :) Wont be fully sorted until April/May though :( Soooo much to do.
Kev: interested in the FCC day :)

Club MSV Trackd
10-01-2006, 16:03
Hello All,
After speaking with Ben and Kevin of the SXOC as well as the Chairman of the Mazda Rotary Club (RX7's and RX8's) I have come up with a club day, the details of which are below.
This would be a full day event shared with the Mazda Rotary Club on the 17th February.
Each club will have seven 30 minute sessions, 3 and half hours total circuit time. If both clubs and members agree, we can run an open pit lane in the afternoon allowing members to mix on circuit and possibly providing some friendly competitiveness. Alternatively we can keep to sessions.
Price £149
The timetable is as follows:
7:30 Signing on
8:30 Briefing
9:00 Circuit time begins with Rotary Club
9:30 200sx club
10:00 Rotary
10:30 200sx
11:00 Rotary
11:30 200sx
12:00 Rotary
12:30 200sx
13:00 Lunch time
14:00 Open pit lane untill 5 or Rotary
14:30 200sx
15:00 Rotary
15:30 200sx
16:00 Rotary
16:30 200sx
17:00 Circuit time ends
On this trackday there will be 2 "Club Instructors" which will be available throughout the day offering advice and 10 minute slots of in car tuition free of charge.
I shall also contact some of the Japanese car magazines and ask if they would like to do a feature on the day which I'm sure a few of them would be keen to.
After track time has ended, there is the opportunity to join fellow club members for a drink in the circuit bar.
I think that this would be a very social and fun event for both clubs so if anyone is keen then please post your name and any thoughts you have below and hopefully we can organise this for you!
Kind regards,
Alex Baker

Count me as interested for any track day this year. Won't necessarily be able to make them, but definitely would like to go on track
I think there will soon be a booking link for the April event
Infact I even know what it will be ;) but it wont work just yet.
