Subject: Water vs Coke...very interesting

We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

Water

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half of the world population)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost
100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is
50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Information:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It's pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke

Nope, not as nice as coke.
Squash is good, but only when there is no fizzy pop. :)

Coke is on offer in Safeway this week too, Ģ1.99 for 12, I buy about 10 packs of twelve so they last me te 3-4 weeks until they are on offer again. :)

I'm sticking to water since years. Try to drink at least 6-8l fluids a day in a country where you got over 45°C in the shade - you wont succeed with coke.

Have Coke, but bung some Vodka in and you won't care anymore:D

There are a lot of rumours about coke - most of them urban myth toss. The "dissolves a nail/tooth/steak in ten minutes" is my favourite.

check www.snopes2.com, the urban legends website. It has a whole section on coke.

But you're right about drinking more water. It's a good thing.:)

Pah, nothing better than a good old British cup of tea :)

Except beer of course :D

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of stomach acid and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a stomachful of vomit into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in stomach acid.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of stomach acid over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

The active ingredient in stomach acis is hydrochloric acid :)

PH is obviously diminished by dilution, so phospheric acid diluted with water (the active ingredient in all drinks!) brings the PH to a more neutral amount.

Saying that, I drink water and not coke. When I moved to the Gulf (aparent temp of up to 60C in the summer (53C 'actual' and I've measured it at 80C in my car when I left the windows up in the sun by accident)), I discovered that unless I switched to diet coke, I'd be a bloater inside a month. I then discovered that you still can't stay hydrated on fizzy stuff without feeling bloated permanently.

hehe we tested this a few months ago in the office, left a couple of glasses of coke on the window sills put some 2p's in them, a few days later the 2p's came out all bright and shiny as if they'd just been minted :)

I drink shedloads anyway, but in a recent (and continuing :) ) health drive, I've been drinking very little but water. Week days the total consumed has been around 8l , and on weekends, 14-16 litres of water a day :)

The results?

I feel more alert, feel 'healthier' (in conjunction with a heavily monitored food intake :) ), go to the toilet a HELL of a lot less, and generally feel loads better about myself.

Water = good. Fizzy cr@p = baaaaaad.

That didn't go where I was expecting it to... yeah sure Coke is acidic, a lot of foods and drinks are. What they should have mentioned is that Coke is a diuretic - it makes you pee out more water than you take in which links in nicely with the bit about how we should all drink more water. :)

I swear if i go without Coke for around 10 hours i start to go Cold Turkey and Rattle

I did a detox in Jan for a month and a half under the same sort of rules and lost a stone and a half. I felt so much better, but alas I have rediscovered lager again.

Either way ... another fact I came across was that asbestos isnt dangerous if inhaled unless you are a smoker. I helped a local university work this out in a study. The only people that had symptoms and cancers where the result of the chemical reaction between the asbestos and smoke fumes.

Food contains plenty of water. You get tons from that.

In the uk, up to 15% (i think) of chicken is alowed to be INJECTED water to bulk out the weight.

hmm, but do you not loose that 15% again when you cook it, hence the postage stamp sized bits of flieswing bacon on my grill in the morning?:)

Knackers yer teeth though...

I only drink coke when I'm in the car, or in a pub (don't drink lager in the accepted sense - couple of bottles now and again but no pub binges)

I rely on the elixir that this once great empire was founded on - TEA.

Apparently its good for you as well.

Stomach acid is also bad for teeth!

Always rinse after vomitting!

Most bulimics need major dental work eventually.

Thatīs because of the Caffeine in Coke and you not getting it. Thatīs also the reason why you canīt sleep if have had lots of Coke in the evening.

Did you know that diet Coke has 15 times less calories than the regular. You heavy drinkers, switch to diet and youīll be guaranteed to lose some weight.

Yeah, but the sweetners in Diet drinks have been linked to cancer.

Coke etc only rots teeth if you sip regularly, eg from a bottle all day rather than from a can - usualy downed in a few mouthfuls.

So cancer or some tooth decay

The choice is your, and it's the choice of a generation.....;) ;)

Only person I know of who won't drink diet is a friend who rants about it's evil constantly....
And works in an animal testing lab. He reckons those sweeteners to very nasty things and has seen the results.

I must say, given his otherwise carefree attititude towards red meat, recreational chemicals and crisps, his vehment avoidance of sweeteners has really made me go off diet drinks a bit too.

Who cares about drinking the stuff, better put a couple of bottle of coke in the boot, never knew it was so useful...

Better still, I now know how to desolve the wife without buying acid.
Going to Sainsburys for a 4x2ltr pack of coke is a little less obvious than asking your chemist for "8 litres of concentrated hyrdrochloric acid".

They always look at me funny when I ask for that as well  ;)
