View Full Version : Noise restriction. Measuring dB.
How can I find out how loud my exhaust is? I don't want to turn up to a track day and be told that I can't run...
I'm currently running a Nur Spec R with no bung..
there are some mobiles (nokia I think) which have a sound meter on them.
hold it against a stick so it is 75cm from the tail pipe and at 45 degrees from the ground.
alternatively if you turn up at a track they will often do it for you free of charge.
good luck

Maplins do a tester for ~£30 IIRC, I keep meaning to get one.
Book-a-Track will hire you one to test your car.

£9 included P&P both ways
Or turn up at any track and ask. (well ask before you turn up, phone them).

Cheers SM  I'll rent one.
I'm hoping to do my first track day next year and i was wondering the same thing now i've got the Apex exhaust on with decat and Dano front pipe.
There's a sound level meter on here for £9.52 + p&p, which is quite a bargain i reckon.

Only problem is, dont they need calibrating before they can be used?
