After years of hating dentists, I found one who is actually good at his job!
No pain fillings etc. It's all down to a certain technique apparently. The dentists who are trained in London get taught it and you can tell who by the (Lond) in brackets after the dentists qualifications.
He/she also has to have trained there in the last 15 years! :)
just got into an nhs dentist, havent been in 5 years
apparently i'm all fine and dont need to be seen for a year :D

It's a long boring (sic) process!
Once you are numb, it just makes your jaw ache as you have to have your mouth open for AGES. But it's no more painful than a regular filling, which means it SHOULD be pain free. Depends on the skill of the dentist then.
Dentist's:mad: :furious:

 I am now back from Dentist.
I.......
I got on the chair, she did some checkup thing which took a min, then she rubbed some gel on my gum, then she put a local jab in my gum......
1 1/2 min later   She starts drilling
Man !!!!!!, we are talking pain now  , hurting like a mutha f**ka, i'm showing the signs of extreme pain, so she stops, and said hows it feel, i said like your sticking a knife into me and twisting....
What does she do ? SHE GETS a Different drill out !
Starts doing somthing with that, i squinse in pain, she stops and says hows it feel, i say vibrating... (wrong answer !), she carries on saying 'Nearly there' ....... , then switches back to the smaller driller thing
By now (the whole process took around 4 mins), by now, my hands are clenched so tight, they have turned red, my whole body is shaking (and even when she stopped, i was still shaking)....
She said she had started a root filling procedure, but didnt complete, so put a TCP thingy on the nerve, then covered with temp filling. She said i was in pain slightly as the drill was hitting the nerve....
I just sat there in amazement listening to her
Went downstairs to pay at reception, i could'nt even sign the form as my hands were shaking that much.
So now, back in work, mouth is very very sore, drooped and slightly numb...
I was sure that when they jab u, u chill for 10 mins before they get to work ?

I'm also back from the Dentist. Filling between two top teeth. Jabbed , then she sort of polished away some coffee and fag stains while I numbed up. 10minutes with the power tools, then the hairdryer thingy, and all done.
Not exactly comfortable, but no pain either. I'm just trying not to dribble coffee.

She's a bluddy sadist! No way would my dentist have behaved like that.  At the first sign of pain, he stops and either puts more numbing stuff in or waits a bit for the previous lot to take effect. You should complain. The nerve should have been perfectly numb.As it wasn't, she showed her incompetance :indiff:
