A mate has just bought a very tidy 1987 Celica GT. I think the model code for them is ST165, am I right? He is after a few shiny bits to make it stand out a little. It has the 1998cc twin cam n/a engine which I assume puts out between 130-150hp??? Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket exhaust or rear box for it? He's also thinking of some alloys, what is the biggest size you can fit. I reckon 17's would be about the limit for the handling? Can anyone give me some info on this model as most of the sites I've found cater for the GT4?

I remember driving one whilst new. I think it's engine produced about 140hp, frankly it felt really dull and somewhat porky and overweight. Bearing in mind I was comparing it to a Corolla GT with only 122hp from a 1.6, that's not good.

More to the point, the acceleration was decidedly second rate at about 8.5 secs to 60.

Personally I'd walk away and spend your money on an older 200.

You have a AE85 Levin... DOHC 2.0L I believe. The Toyota 4AGE 1.6L motor is better suited for the cars purpose and design, cornering. You have a good drift car my friend... use it wisely.

i like the old celica, guy at work had a grey one, and he gave me a run for my money in my pug a few times.......which takes some doing:D and in reply to nismo freak, they do handle, brit spec cars are always set up to corner better than yank spec in standard form, THEN WE REALLY GET GOING ON THEM:D :D
